📊 Distributions to LPs remain elusive across recent vintage years. According to our VC Fund Performance report, only 9% of funds from the 2021 vintage have returned any capital to LPs after 3 years—a stark contrast to 25% of 2017 vintage funds reaching that same milestone. 💡 Here’s a closer look at the data: 1️⃣ 2017 vs. 2021 vintages: At the 3-year mark, just 9% of 2021 vintage funds have returned capital (DPI over zero), compared to 25% of 2017 funds. This indicates that more recent funds are taking longer to distribute capital back to LPs. 2️⃣ 2019 lags behind expectations: Although the 2019 vintage tracked closely with 2017 and 2018 for the first 4 years, it has significantly lagged behind by year 5. Only 39% of 2019 vintage funds have any DPI, compared to 59% of 2017 vintage and 50% of 2018 funds at the same point. 🔍 This trend may signal prolonged exit timelines for recent vintages, leaving LPs waiting longer for returns. Fund managers and investors will need to monitor these patterns as they make future investment decisions. How will this impact the next wave of venture capital investments? Let us know your thoughts in the comments. #VentureCapital #FundPerformance #LPs #CartaData

🍂 September has already been packed with PE community events here at Carta. Here's a quick recap of where we've been and who we've been connecting with 🤝 📈 NYSE Happy Hour We kicked off fall with our partners Deel and NYSE for a lively evening at the Stock Exchange! What better place to raise a toast to private equity than on Wall Street? 🍸 🌉 Dreamforce Reception At Dreamforce, we teamed up with Salesforce, Orion Global Solutions, and The Wharton School to host a wine tasting reception where Carta CEO, Henry Ward, took center stage to talk about the future of technology in private equity. Let’s just say it was a *dream* night for PE talk and tech trends! ✨ 🍃 Windy City Happy Hour Chicago got a little breezier when we brought together the private equity crowd – from customers to partner law firms – at our Windy City Happy Hour. The private equity convos blew everyone away. 🌬️🍻 💡 Carta at Francisco Partners Our Head of Policy, Anthony Cimino, delivered insights at the Francisco Partners’ CFO, Legal, and Procurement Conference. He spoke on how Carta is the connective tissue of the private market, bridging the gaps between VCs, PE funds, PortCos, and LPs. And did we mention our work with Congress to protect QSBS tax benefits? That’s right – we're making moves on *and* off the Hill. Chris Scatterday and Thomas Buck showcased Carta's Private Equity solutions and discussed the critical role a reliable equity administration tool has in driving operational efficiency and success. 🏛️📊 We’re grateful for the opportunity to play a part in strengthening connections within the private equity ecosystem. Stay tuned for more! 👏 #PrivateEquity #Carta #PrivateMarkets
