In the ruling, handed down on August 5, 2024, the Court concluded that Sushi Bay, which is now in liquidation, was responsible for contravening several provisions of the Fair Work Act and Fair Work Regulations including, falsifying records, underpaying employees and requiring employees to participate in a pay-back scheme. #WAWorks: Regardless of debates about the role of nuclear energy in Australia’s energy mix, uranium mining in WA has huge potential to service nuclear energy demands of other jurisdictions while also diversifying WA’s industrial base and creating jobs. That was the message from CCIWA Policy Manager Dr Anthea Wesley at the WA Mining Conference & Exhibition in Perth on October 10, speaking on a panel about uranium mining and nuclear energy alongside Curtin University’s Dr Eric Lilford, Cauldron Energy Limited’s Jonathan Fisher and facilitator Minerals Council of Australia’s David Parker. WA's future workforces will need to be active citizens and job-ready students to drive our economy forward in existing and future areas of opportunity. This was the key message heard at our recent Education Workshop, where CCIWA Members shared their concerns about the education system in WA. CCIWA strongly champions an education sector that meets the needs of business and empowers the next generation to succeed. If you are a CCIWA Member and are interested in contributing to the project, please get in touch. https://loom.ly/VGvxMiA #CCIWA #education #policy

#IndigenousBusinessMonth collectively calls upon First Nations business owners and their non-Indigenous allies, to gather online and in community, to celebrate First Nations businesses, their stories, and their ways of doing business. In this 10th year the theme is 'MAKING OUR MARK', to inspire the next generation of First Nations business leaders. We're proud of our own efforts to elevate Indigenous businesses though the Aboriginal Business Directory WA, which recently reached a major milestone of 1,000 Aboriginal businesses now listed.
