Exciting news! Melbourne Laureate Professor Frank Caruso from the Department of Chemical Engineering has teamed up with Monash University and Professor Christoph Hagemeyer from the Australian Centre for Blood Diseases to develop a new generation of insulins. Their innovative project has received over $750,000 from the Type 1 Diabetes Grand Challenge (a collaboration of JDRF UK, Diabetes UK, and the Steve Morgan Foundation). This funding will support the advancement of a smart insulin delivery system, designed to precisely mimic a healthy pancreas by delivering insulin only when needed. This breakthrough could significantly improve the management of Type 1 diabetes and is a result of ongoing collaboration with Dr Francesca Cavalieri from RMIT University.
