Thank you to the 300 people that attended this important seminar last night on the proposed NSW Building reforms. The current draft Bill is open to limited consultation only. So if you have any comments you would like to make, please send them to Engineers Australia so they can be included in their submission. The email address for submission is policy@engineersaustralia.org.au. The Engineers Australia submission is required to be submitted by 6 September 2024 (i.e. the end of next week). So if you have any comments or concerns, please send them by Wednesday 4 September 2024. As presented last night, at this stage public comment on the Building Bill and reforms is expected to be open in late October / November this year. There is also a concurrent parliamentary inquiry into the Design and Building Practitioners Act. EA's submission, and the Consult Australia submissions are there for everyone's reference. https://lnkd.in/gH2wcgTs Issues that EA and others are very aware of include: 1. Personal Liability of Engineers and the joint and several liability issues. 2. Duty of Care extension being to broad. 3. Duty being extended outside of the Residential Building space. 4. Insurance Obligations. If you have any other comments, please forward them onto EA for inclusion in their submission.
Our next technical seminar is planned for Tuesday 27 August 2024. Register at the link provided. This is an online event only.
