Our workshop facilitators are our driving force, spreading essential climate knowledge and empowering others to make more informed, mindful choices. Today, we're spotlighting Carmelo, one of our remarkable facilitators in Australia who brings impact to every session. 👥 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁 : 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗹𝗼 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗲 👉 Carmelo Fedele Carmelo is an experienced Geography teacher with a passion for climate change. With years of teaching behind him, he has been dedicated to understanding and educating about climate issues, constantly seeking new ways to bring awareness to his students and colleagues. Carmelo first encountered Climate Fresk through a colleague, who suggested incorporating the workshop into one of their regular meetings. He didn’t expect to gain much from the session, but was immediately struck by the engaging, collaborative nature of the workshop. It presented climate change in a holistic way, mapping out causes, impacts, and feedback loops in a way that was both accessible and comprehensive. This experience inspired Carmelo to pursue facilitator training, and soon after he started to run workshops for his students, sparking enthusiasm and a desire for further involvement among them. From his experience as a Climate Fresk facilitator Carmelo is particularly proud of creating 𝗔𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝗮’𝘀 𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽. “The workshop had a profound impact on me, and I wanted my students to feel that too. Over 30 students completed the training, and more than half were eager to train as facilitators.  Then we set out to create something ambitious—a giant workshop where students would facilitate for teachers. On April 29, 2024, we achieved this, hosting over 120 staff in what became the largest Climate Fresk workshop ever held in Australia.” 𝗧𝗼 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. • Are you climate literate? In a world facing unprecedented environmental challenges, climate literacy is more important than ever. It means more than just knowing that climate change exists—it involves a deep understanding of the science behind it, the human and environmental impacts, and the solutions we can adopt to mitigate its effects. Being climate literate empowers us to make informed decisions, advocate for changes, and take meaningful actions in our everyday lives. Are you, your colleagues, employees, friends, family members equipped with the knowledge needed to navigate and address one of the most critical issues of our time? If the answer is ‘no’ but you want to do something about it, get in touch with us on: Australia@ClimateFresk.org Thank you for sharing this brilliant post Audrey Barucchi

Today - on International Day of Climate Action - we celebrate the global effort to address the #climatecrisis and advocate for a sustainable future. This day is a powerful reminder of the urgent need to understand and combat the environmental challenges we face. 🌍 Why Climate Literacy Matters 🌿 Climate literacy is more than just understanding #climatechange; it's about equipping ourselves with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions and drive meaningful change. Understanding #climatescience helps us make better choices in our daily lives, from reducing our #carbonfootprint to supporting sustainable practices. Educated citizens are better prepared to advocate for policies and practices that protect our environment and promote resilience. So on this International Day of Climate Action, I encourage everyone to deepen their climate knowledge and share it with others. Whether it's through attending a Climate Fresk Australia workshop, engaging with educational resources, or participating in community initiatives, every step towards #climateliteracy contributes to a healthier planet. Let's harness the power of education to inspire action and create a sustainable future for generations to come. #ClimateAction #ClimateLiteracy #SustainableFuture #InternationalDayOfClimateAction 🌱💪

🌍 Last week, I co-facilitated my first Climate Fresk workshop with rock star facilitator Mylène Turban and earned my yellow belt! 🎉 We ran a session for ADA staff at UNSW, and it felt great to finally step-up after supporting the process for a few years in my own courses. 💡 This pilot is part of an initiative to introduce the Fresk as a climate literacy tool at UNSW, boosting student and staff understanding of climate science based on IPCC insights. The Fresk’s interactive 42-card game breaks down climate change complexities, tackles emotions, and sparks meaningful action. Later, Mylène and I presented to a Community of Practice focused on integrating the SDGs into teaching and campus life. Interested in joining a Fresk workshop at UNSW or want to explore next steps to integrate Climate Fresk as part of your courses - get in touch! Big thanks to everyone who joined, especially Emma Mills FHEA and Tema Milstein for your ongoing support. #ClimateEducation #ClimateAction #ClimateFresk #HigherEducation

Last week was rewarding for 3 reasons! 1. The opportunity to co-facilitate a Climate Fresk with Stéphane Schneider followed by an empowering demonstration of the En-ROADS simulation platform. We pulled the levers necessary to bring the world back onto a trajectory of a safe climate. 2. Learning about all the local Council and community legends in Sydney with their finalist projects at the Keep Australia Beautiful NSW Awards. It always brings tears of joy to see what local schools kids are doing too! 3. Sharing ways to be involved in sustainable living with the community at Sustainability Lane, with popcorn cooked on an induction cooktop #ElectrifyEverything, the Climate Fresk Quiz, a teaser for the next Fresk event, and just having the space to talk and connect with volunteers in the Sustainability Collective!
