The company works in five strategic markets: - sustainable fisheries management, - environmental monitoring, - maritime surveillance, - mobility, - and energies & infrastructures. CLS processes data from 100,000 transponders per month (such as drifting buoys, animal tags, VMS transponders, & LRIT tracking) and observes the oceans and inland waters (more than 20 instruments onboard satellites daily deliver information to CLS on the world's seas and oceans). In addition, we monitor land and sea activities by satellite (nearly 20,000 radar and optical images and several hundred drone flights are processed each year).  Committed to a sustainable planet, the company daily works for the Earth, from Space.

🌊 NEMO Beacon certified by Australian Fisheries Management Authority AFMA – A New Milestone for Coastal Fishing Management in Australia. 👉 Coastal fishing in Australia presents unique challenges, both for the fishermen and the authorities overseeing sustainable fisheries. Fishermen face the task of balancing economic activities with the protection of marine ecosystems, while the government must ensure that coastal fishing practices remain within sustainable limits. Monitoring fishing efforts, reducing illegal practices, and safeguarding marine biodiversity are critical to achieving these goals. ✅ In this context, our NEMO beacon has just been certified by the AFMA. This certification represents a major advancement in the management of coastal fisheries across Australia. 🤝 With over 30 years of experience in satellite-based solutions and sustainable fisheries management, our CLS Group (Collecte Localisation Satellites) is trusted by governments worldwide. Our technologies, like the #NEMO beacon, provide accurate, real-time data on vessel activity, helping authorities track fishing efforts, prevent illegal activities, and ensure compliance with regulations while securing traditional and coastal fishermen when they are at sea, far from the coast, without any classic telecom connectivity. The NEMO beacon is a game changer for both fishermen and authorities. We are honored by the Australian government’s trust in CLS Oceania, and we are committed to continuing our mission of supporting sustainable fishing practices for the benefit of future generations. 📩 Ask for more about our NEMO system: 👉 https://lnkd.in/e656jAQq #SustainableFishing #CoastalFishing #AustraliaMarine #FisheriesManagement #MarineTech #OceanConservation #SustainableOceans #Tech4Good

🌍 Calling All Wind Energy Leaders: Navigating Australia's Offshore Challenges for a Sustainable Future🌱 As the world moves towards a sustainable future, the transition to green, decarbonized energy is not just a goal but a necessity. For Australia, this shift is key. Offshore wind farms, a key player in this transition, must be carefully managed to balance environmental protection with economic growth. Australia’s marine zones cover an astonishing 10 million square kilometers, supporting over 33,000 species, including some of the world’s most unique marine life. With the blue economy—encompassing fisheries , tourism, and offshore energy — contributing over AUD 68 billion annually, the stakes are high. In this context, Australia faces the additional challenge of managing offshore wind energy production zones, which must coexist with multiple other activities, including fishing , tourism, and marine conservation. Effective management of these zones is crucial to ensuring a sustainable future for both the environment and the economy. How CLS’s innovative solutions like DeepCLiDAR, Base Lines, and SARWind can help? These proven solutions provide the critical insights needed for strategic decision-making in this rapidly evolving landscape. These technologies are essential for optimizing offshore operations while safeguarding the precious ecosystems that underpin Australia’s marine wealth. #DeepCLiDAR offers accurate and reliable data on wind conditions, enabling more efficient and safer placement of offshore wind turbines. #Base Lines provides essential baseline data to monitor environmental changes and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. Finally, #SAR Wind delivers real-time wind field analysis, helping operators to optimize energy production and minimize risks. By leveraging these advanced technologies, Australia can navigate the complexities of offshore wind farm management, ensuring that the transition to green energy is both environmentally sustainable and economically viable. 💡 Want to learn more? Contact our team to discover how CLS can help optimize your offshore operations and contribute to a sustainable future 👉 https://lnkd.in/gSkjdBwa #GreenEnergy #Sustainability #MarineBiodiversity #OffshoreWind #BlueEconomy #Innovation

📅 Join our experts, Tim Chalke and Oliver Palin, at the Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA) & NZMSS 2024 Conference to discover how CLS Oceania is helping to create a sustainable future for our planet. 🌊 The ocean, covering over 70% of our planet, is the lifeblood of Earth. It produces at least 50% of the planet’s oxygen, hosts the majority of Earth’s hashtag #biodiversity, and provides a primary source of protein for over a billion people worldwide. Moreover, ocean-based industries are expected to employ around 40 million people by 2030, making the ocean a cornerstone of our global economy. 🚨 Yet, despite these immense benefits, our oceans are under threat. Overfishing, plastic pollution, and oil spills are depleting marine life and damaging ecosystems at an alarming rate. 🛰 At CLS Oceania, we are dedicated to fostering a sustainable relationship with our oceans. We support decision-makers, ocean stakeholders, and coastal communities in restoring the ocean's health and vibrancy through innovative satellite data and digital decision-making tools. Find out more at our booth #15! #SustainableOcean #Tech4Good #SatelliteTechnology #BluePlanet

🎣 Unveiling the Secrets of Yellowtail Kingfish with Argos Satellite Tracking 🐟 Yellowtail kingfish are a globally iconic species, highly prized by recreational and commercial fishers in Australia's sub-tropical and temperate waters. Despite their economic importance, surprisingly little is known about their movements and behaviors. That's where Argos and Project Kingfish come in. 🛰️ Operating out of Sydney Institute of Marine Science, Project Kingfish is deploying Argos pop-up satellite tags on large kingfish to track their movements across vast oceanic distances. These tags estimate location using collected data on depth, temperature, and light levels. This is then transmitted using Argos Services, powered by CLS. 📊 In a fascinating study, 2 kingfish from the same school were tagged off Jervis Bay, NSW, in November 2022. Remarkably, despite being separated initially, the fish eventually regrouped, as revealed by the transmitted data. This data is instrumental in understanding the breeding behavior, habitat preferences, and movement patterns of kingfish, providing critical insights for sustainable fishing practices. 🔍 Why Argos Tracking? Kingfish are highly migratory, traveling thousands of kilometers between marine management jurisdictions and even countries. Argos satellite telemetry is essential for capturing the full range of their habitat and ensuring accurate tracking. 🎣 Why It Matters Kingfish may not be facing obvious population threats, but their economic significance demands comprehensive research. This project bridges the gap, offering vital data that can inform effective management strategies and preserve the species' health and longevity. Notably, data collected by Project Kingfish has proven kingfish populations across Australia are interlinked, rather than existing as isolated groups within each marine management jurisdiction—a key discovery. Current results suggest that collaboration between fisheries management jurisdictions may be a suitable approach to assess the stock's status more accurately and sustainably manage kingfish into the future. Stay tuned as we continue to unlock the mysteries of these incredible fish! 🐟🌏 🔍✨ If you'd like to learn more about our Argos services, everything is available online on this link : https://lnkd.in/extbSHMD 🌐📄 And if you'd like to get in touch directly with our teams, feel free to contact @Oliver Palin via private message on LikendIn or visit our contact form https://lnkd.in/gSkjdBwa. 💬📩 #MarineScience #Kingfish #Conservation #SatelliteTracking #Argos
