At the Commonwealth Grants Commission we are committed to supporting reconciliation and fostering a deeper understanding and respect for First Nations peoples. National Reconciliation Week, from 27 May to 3 June, is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia. The Commonwealth Grants Commission understands the importance of equity and fairness in all aspects of our work. We are proud to have a Reconciliation Action Plan in place, guiding our efforts to embed reconciliation into our business practices and relationships. The Commonwealth Grants Commission recognises First Nations peoples as the First Peoples of Australia and the Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia. We acknowledge their continuing spiritual, cultural, social, and economic connection to Australia’s lands and waters. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and to all First Nations peoples. We invite everyone to join us in acknowledging National Reconciliation Week and to take part in activities that promote understanding and respect. Together, we can build a nation strengthened by respectful relationships between the wider Australian community and First Nations peoples.

Providing independent advice to Government on the distribution of GST revenue among the states and territories.
About us
The Commonwealth Grants Commission (CGC) provides advice to the Australian Government on the relative fiscal capacity of State and Territory governments to inform the GST distribution. We are part of the wider Treasury Portfolio. The CGC has played a central role in Commonwealth-State financial relations since 1933. Operating under the Commonwealth Grants Commission Act 1973, we are a small independent agency comprising: - A Commission which makes decisions about how to measure the relative fiscal capacities of the States - An agency who is responsible for collecting & assessing data, and undertaking research to provide considered advice to the Commission. We work closely with State and Territory governments to develop recommendations for the distribution of GST revenue that reflect their relative fiscal capacities.

I'm like coffee. Very bitter and most people don't like me without changing some aspect of what I am.
