💧 Damming the old ways: Modular solutions for a sustainable future 💧 Innovations in modular mega-fluid storage systems are revolutionising the construction and environmental sectors, addressing long-standing challenges associated with traditional ponds and earthen dams. Conventional methods require precise upfront design and are often classified as regulated structures, in turn creating extended approval processes, high initial costs, and risks of project delays—particularly for environmentally sensitive fluids like leachate, brine, and PFAS. These challenges have historically lacked alternative solutions. Until now. Concept Environmental Services has pioneered and patented modular storage featuring post-tensioned concrete panels. These scalable systems offer up to 80ML capacity per tank and have been combined to exceed 350ML, matching or surpassing traditional earthen dam volumes. Importantly, phased implementation reduces upfront capital expenditure (CAPEX), enhances project financing flexibility, and accelerates approval processes. Beyond scalability, these systems deliver significant productivity gains, requiring only 6-8 weeks to install an 80ML tank—much faster than traditional methods. Modular construction also enhances predictability, safety, and efficiency during deployment. Additionally, Concept’s solutions prioritise local employment and supply chain sustainability, with over 90% of materials sourced locally here in Queensland and using local specialist liner technicians to provide quality and certainty in containment of environmentally sensitive fluids. Last week we got to make the journey up north to visit Townsville for February’s Local Authority Waste Management Action Committee Inc.
