We're proud to partner with IAG to raise awareness of cyber security during Cyber Security Awareness Month. As cyber threats continue to rise, it's crucial for businesses of all sizes to prioritise digital protection. Together, we're committed to empowering businesses with the tools and knowledge they need to stay secure. #CrawfordAustralia #CyberSecurityAwarenessMonth #cybersecurity #partnership #cyberinsurance
October is Cyber Security Awareness Month in Australia, themed ‘cyber security is everyone’s business’. The campaign led by the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) is aimed at drawing attention to the growing incidence of cyber-attacks, and helping Australians strengthen their resiliency against future attacks. The risk of cyber-attack is one of growing concern, with cybercrime reported every 6 minutes on average in Australia. In response to the increasing threat, IAG recently launched ‘Cylo backed by CGU Insurance’, a cyber insurance agency providing coverage for SMEs in partnership with market leaders UpGuard and Crawford & Company (Australia). Cylo.ai Chief Underwriting Officer, Con Bakas said, “What we're seeing is that some of the critical elements that small businesses use in terms of baseline risk management, like malware protection and backups, isn’t enough. Hackers are becoming very courageous and clever in terms of the way they're attacking systems. They’re trying to find businesses that don't have the necessary controls.” To find out how businesses can strengthen their resiliency and better protect themselves through the ASD Essential Eight framework, please visit: https://lnkd.in/gFbxyjgJ

CEO Dare to Cure brings together business leaders and their teams from across Australia to support an important mission: finding a cure for children with cancer. During this impactful event, each team is encouraged to step outside their comfort zone by taking on a dare. Our team participated in the event on Friday, 25 October, in Sydney, and here they are sharing their experiences. A special thank you to Jonathan Hubbard, Curtis Oakes, Laura Shann, and Angela Fitzpatrick for their courage in facing their fears and their commitment to raising funds for this critical cause. Every dollar donated directly supports the Children's Cancer Institute's research and initiatives aimed at curing childhood cancer. Together, we can make a difference. #restoringlives #socialimpact #givingback #CrawfordAustralia #OneCrawford

Amid safety concerns, Australia has become one of the first countries to enact legislation banning some engineered stone products. It is now widely accepted that silica dust which is released into the air during manufacture, cutting and polishing of engineered stone, can penetrate deep into a person’s lungs, ultimately leading to silicosis. There are implications for insurance claims that involve kitchens and bathrooms, or indeed any room featuring engineered stone. Make sure you understand the details! Crawford's CRD Building Consultants and Engineers team is reminding the insurance industry of several notable exceptions and nuances attached to the ban on engineered stone, following the new legislation coming into force back in July. Mike Sander, CRD's Engineering Technical Lead, says it's critical to understand the detail given the price difference between natural stone and man-made alternatives is often significant. “Claim costs can easily skyrocket if assessors and builders don’t fully understand the new rules and assume it’s a total blanket ban.” Mike also points out that not all engineered stone is created equal. "There’s engineered stone and then there’s engineered stone. For the purposes of the ban, it’s engineered stone with more than 1% crystalline silica content that is the prohibited type. But it is possible to replace an engineered stone benchtop with an engineered stone benchtop. “Builders should be looking at the closest alternative silica-free engineered stone-like products because there are many available on the market which are typically a lot cheaper than marble, granite or quartzite." Check out some of the key points in Insurance Business Australia below, and/ or read CRD's full Technical Bulletin on our website here: https://lnkd.in/gPAxSZHY #engineeredstone #insuranceclaims #CrawfordAustralia Tim Butler
