For those in Sydney (and let's face it, beyond) one of the biggest opportunities of the year has opened, and the Creative Plus Business team will be on the ground for more than just conferencing, amazing screen and music, and the incredible networking. SXSW Sydney is an enormous offering, and we're thrilled to have Wendi Lanham and Robbi James navigating the conference alongside Monica Davidson, who this year will also be an industry mentor - meeting one-on-one with professionals who are keen to take that next step in their careers. Congratulations Monica, those who get to speak to you this week are very lucky. If you're heading to SXSW and want to connect with us during the week, reach out to find a time!

Coming up from Creative Workplaces. Creative wellbeing is something we should all be embedding in our professional practice and creative organisations, and we've been delighted to see the response to our own workshops and events in this area. But to see the groundswell of sector-wide offerings like this one is very encouraging, and more than a step in the right direction. We'll definitely be online for this one!
Register now for our upcoming webinar: Understanding psychosocial safety in the arts and culture sector 👉 https://lnkd.in/gfEjuuvK Everyone has WHS responsibilities in the workplace. If you’re the boss, you have extra responsibilities to ensure the psychological health and safety of your workers and other people in the workplace, and to manage psychosocial hazards. This can sometimes feel hard in creative workplaces, where people often cooperate to design and deliver work in atypical ways. But focusing on psychological safety is just as vital in the arts and culture sector as it is everywhere else. Join SafeWork SA’s Chief Advisor Psychosocial Jason Mavrikis who will explain the laws. Together with Creative Workplaces Council Member Tina Lavranos, they’ll bust some myths about managing psychosocial hazards while still making brilliant art. (And remember: WHS laws are the same in almost all states and territories, so this webinar will be valuable for everyone.)

“One of the things that ARTSELERATE talks about is there are actually lots of different ways to be an arts business... It is a really great set of skills to think about that business side even if you do not think you’re quite ready because you’ll probably surprise yourself, you’re probably doing a lot more than you think you are. Let’s share the resources we have and let’s share the knowledge we have, because the more creative businesses we have that are thriving in the community, the more arts opportunities there are for everyone – including audiences.” Alysha Herrmann spoke to The SE Voice last week about our upcoming Mt Gambier edition of ARTSELERATE SA. Alysha is one of three industry mentors - including artist Jeff McCann and fashion designer Stavroula Adameitis - who will join Creative Plus Business' Monica Davidson to share their experience of building sustainable careers in the the creative industries. ARTSELERATE is one of our flagship programs, delivered in SA in partnership with the Government of South Australia's Office for Small and Family Business. Part incubator, start-up accelerator, and collaboration thinktank, it's designed to fast track the development of creative industries businesses locally. We're very excited to be welcoming the cohort in Mt Gambier next week, and in Port Adelaide in a few weeks' time. EOIs for both Mt Gambier and Port Adelaide are open now. The team at Creative Plus Business is getting ready for our first multi-workshop program delivered in partnership with a leading independent theatre, and we’re thrilled that it’s with Sydney’s iconic Old Fitz Theatre. "Having previously partaken in, and benefited from, the wonderful services offered by Creative Plus Business (including a range of their free workshops and the brilliant GROW program), we are delighted for the Old Fitz Theatre to be partnering with them for the Fitz's inaugural New Works Festival. This partnership will see the delivery of three professional development workshops designed to upskill our emerging sector and equip them with the necessary tools for success. We very much look forward to welcoming Sydney artists through the Fitz's doors for this exciting program, and to continue to work alongside Creative Plus Business to fortify our sector." Emma Wright, Co-Artistic Director. Emma and her Co-Artistic Director Lucy Clements have worked with our team to select three of our creative business workshops that will help to build the business capacity of independent theatre makers in funding, marketing, and creative wellbeing. As we continue to develop partnerships that can contribute to sector development in targeted ways we’re delighted to be able to do so in Sydney’s thriving indy theatre community. The upcoming workshops are: 📅 Tues Sept 10 - Creative’s Guide to Funding 💵 https://lnkd.in/gswV7_gt 📅 Wed Sept 25 - Creative’s Guide to Marketing 🪄 https://lnkd.in/gbmYJV4u 📅 Wed Oct 16 - Creative Wellbeing 🎭 https://lnkd.in/gEdViRqA The workshops are being made accessible to all creative practitioners thanks to the Service NSW Business Connect initiative.
