A big thanks to tech partners for joining us yesterday evening in Melbourne at CRN Channel Meets to dig into each other’s cybersecurity challenges and opportunities. Here’s a far-from-comprehensive snapshot of some areas the conversations touched on: - one partner said a vendors’ 24x7 SOC operations had doubled the price of his business’s cyber offering, but said the scalability was worth it - while some partners consider outsourcing 24x7 detection and response, one partner spoke about how his business had been taking its cyber response beyond those commercial services through acquisition of forensic cyber expertise - a significant cybersecurity partner was preparing to take an SMB1001 aligned offering to market - to reduce risk, partners were encouraged to do due diligence on how AI was being embedded into their technology stacks - use of a detection and response vendor’s cyber scores to get discounts on insurance in the US had caught one partner's attention - a partner with an architecture/arts background spoke about the value of transferrable skills from non-cyber professions A big thank you to the partners that shared their insights. And a big thank you to the sponsors that made this event possible: Ingram Micro, Fortinet, NinjaOne, Sophos, Barracuda. If you would like sponsor the next CRN Channel Meets event, please contact Steven McDonald. #crnchannelmeets

Ask a small business owner when they last took a holiday and you might get a laugh. But Linden Jackson, who runs the MSP Agile IT Solutions in Mornington, Victoria, had been lucky enough to take two holidays in the year before we spoke to him at the CRN Pipeline conference. He is a founding member of a close-knit community of some 460 business owners and IT professionals focused on SMB customers. It's a group he could potentially call on to help his customers while he takes time off – not that he’d needed to yet. That group is SMBiT Professionals, which grew out of a community effort by Microsoft resellers around Small Business Server in 2003. Ahead of the SMBiT Professionals 9th annual National Conference in Melbourne on 25th and 26th October, we spoke with Jackson about being a member and a "big year of growth" for his business.
