Together with Fauna and Flora, we've conducted the first comprehensive assessment of litter along Cambodia’s shorelines, revealing the scale of plastic pollution. ♻️ We recorded almost 47,000 debris items from hundreds of surveys across coastal, river and inland sites. We found 70 plastic items on average per metre of coastline, with single-use plastic bottles the most abundant whole item recorded. Read the paper: https://lnkd.in/esTqkFau

Early birds catch the sustainability wins! 🌿 We’re thrilled to announce that 9 companies have begun participating in our Nature IQ™ Early Adopter Program! Our online platform, designed to support the sustainability journey of Australian companies, is now being used by a diverse group of early adopters. These companies are taking steps to responsibly manage their environmental stewardship and planning for improved nature outcomes. During the Early Adopter Program, we’ll gather valuable insights and feedback from the participants that will be instrumental in refining Nature IQ™ and making it even more helpful for making science-backed decisions. 👋 A warm welcome to the first companies joining us on our journey towards a nature positive world: Hanson Australia, ISPT, South32, Rabobank Australia, Iberdrola Australia, Commonwealth Bank, Rio Tinto, Forestry Corporation of NSW and Sustainable Timber Tasmania. Rooting for nature all the way. 👏 Nature is amazing. It plays a crucial role in helping us respond to climate change by: 🌱 Sequestering carbon 🌡️ Regulating temperatures 🌧️ Controlling flooding and erosion 🌴 Providing sustainable resources 🐞 Supporting biodiversity. That's why protecting our ecosystems, living organisms, and natural processes is integral to tackling the climate challenge. We’re finding new ways to help organisations reduce their impacts on nature and biodiversity through our work in Natural Capital Accounting. Hungry for carbon. 🦐 Could these tiny marine animals hold the key to getting the marine carbon cycle right in climate models? They're called zooplankton; tiny marine creatures that drift through the vast ocean, capturing and cycling carbon that would otherwise be lost to the atmosphere. We're working with Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies to learn more about their powerful appetites.

Rising against antimicrobial resistance. 🦠 We've launched a new website to provide evidence-based, accessible information to reduce the impact of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) on human, animal and environmental health. More than 1600 people in Australia die each year from an AMR infection. Globally, AMR is directly responsible for 1.27 million deaths. These numbers are increasing. The 'AMR Action and Insights' website seeks to break down information silos by showcasing perspectives from all sectors. Find out more: https://lnkd.in/emAv7AJe
