In his latest research, Joaquin F. Mould, PhD, analyzed the impact of low influenza vaccination rates on U.S. hospital resources. Study findings predicted that increasing vaccination rates to 45% or more can reduce the impact of influenza and improve health outcomes. Watch the full video to learn more about the study and why boosting #vaccination rates is critical. #publichealth #influenza #DrivenByOurPromise

Exciting News! CSL Vifor has teamed up with Arbor Research Collaborative for Health to launch PARADIGM—a new multinational registry designed to improve the lives of patients suffering from chronic kidney disease-associated pruritus (CKD-aP), a condition causing relentless itch in those undergoing hemodialysis. CKD-aP is a debilitating condition affecting the quality of life for many hemodialysis patients, and PARADIGM aims to capture real-world outcomes across five European countries: France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK. This initiative is set to begin in early 2025, with hundreds of patients participating over the course of three years. The project kick-off will take place at ASN 2024 in San Diego, where key nephrologists from the participating countries will come together to form the steering committee and officially launch the registry. PARADIGM goes beyond traditional clinical trials, offering a deeper understanding of CKD-aP management in everyday healthcare settings. By tracking patient experiences, treatment patterns, and outcomes, the registry will provide valuable insights that help physicians and healthcare providers optimize treatment strategies for better patient outcomes. If you are interested to participate with your dialysis organization, dialysis center or as a patient please contact Arbor Research https://bit.ly/4hhHKhu Stay tuned as we take this important step toward improving quality of life for dialysis patients across Europe! #CKDaP #Dialysis #HealthcareInnovation #PatientOutcomes #RealWorldData #CSLVifor

Congratulations to Qi Zhang from South Australian immunoGENomics Cancer Institute - SAiGENCI, University of Adelaide who was tonight awarded a 2025 CSL Centenary Fellowship. Dr Zhang is investigating the fundamental processes by which our cells turn genes on and off as they change identities, for example as stem cells develop into mature cell types. She will use her $1.25 million CSL Centenary Fellowship to accelerate her research and hopes to learn how these processes can break down and lead to cancer and other diseases. Her work has the potential to open up opportunities for new kinds of treatment options for cancer and developmental diseases. As well as paying tribute to CSL’s origins, the fellowships are an integral part of how CSL delivers on our promise to foster a thriving medical research community by supporting the development of Australian science. Congratulations to Dr Clare Weeden from WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research) in Melbourne who was tonight awarded a 2025 CSL Centenary Fellowship for her research on the cellular changes that can lead to lung cancer, and on ways to detect, stop and even reverse those changes. As well as paying tribute to CSL’s origins, the fellowships are an integral part of how CSL delivers on our promise to foster a thriving medical research community by supporting the advancement of Australian science. The $1.25 million CSL Centenary Fellowship will support Clare’s next bold steps where she will investigate these epigenetic changes and find out if she can reverse them. Two Australian scientists studying how our cells control the impact of genes on health have each been awarded CSL Centenary Fellowships, valued at $1.25 million over five years. Pollution and Lung Cancer: Dr Clare Weeden has shown that our lungs contain many thousands of potentially cancerous cells that become cancer through inflammation caused by smoking and air pollution over the years. The $1.25 million CSL Centenary Fellowship will support her next bold steps at WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research) where she will investigate these epigenetic changes and find out if she can reverse them. Understanding gene switching to better target epigenetic causes of cancer and disease: Dr Qi Zhang is investigating the processes by which our cells turn genes on and off as they change identities, for example as stem cells develop into mature cell types. She will use her $1.25 million CSL Centenary Fellowship to accelerate her research at the South Australian immunoGENomics Cancer Institute - SAiGENCI, University of Adelaide, where she hopes to generate new knowledge that researchers around the world can use to develop new ways to fight disorders and cancers associated with epigenetics. The Fellowships were presented at the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences Annual Meeting on Thursday 24 October 2024 in Adelaide.
