Microbiomes play an important role in shaping our world. They can be found in various places, including the human body, soil, water, and even extreme environments like deep sea vents. These microbiomes play a crucial role in maintaining the health and balance of the ecosystems they inhabit. Research into microbiomes is ongoing and continues to reveal a lot about these fascinating communities of microorganisms. However, many biological sample types are dominated by DNA from other sources, requiring significant NGS depths and higher sequencing costs.
