The #PilbaraPrideFestival is a weeklong annual event that aims to create awareness and visibility and celebrates Pride and the LGBTIQA+ community in the wider Pilbara region. Natalie and Gabby from our Community and Social Performance team were proud to receive our certificate of support from Gloria, Port Hedland Lesbians, Allies and Gays Society (#PHLAGS+) Secretary, last week. On Wednesday evening, we held our inaugural Business After Hours event in collaboration with the Port Hedland Chamber of Commerce Inc. Our Contracts and Procurement team shared insights on upcoming tender opportunities and how local businesses can get involved. It was a tremendous success, and we appreciate the fantastic turnout. Yesterday, we had the privilege of donating monitors, docking stations, keyboards, and cables to the amazing Sam from Sam's Spares. Sam's Spares is a completely volunteer-run non-profit organisation dedicated to saving unwanted IT e-waste from landfills. Led by Samuel Thomas, a young man passionate about community, the environment, and technology, Sam and his team of volunteers repair and refurbish computers, laptops, mobile phones, gaming systems, and other electronics. They then provide these items free of charge to those in need across Western Australia. As an individual with autism and Tourette syndrome, Sam works to challenge the stigmas and limitations faced by his neurodivergent community. Sam's goal for 2024 was to refurbish AUD 1 million worth of IT Technology for the WA Community, and well and truly surpassed that in just 6.5 months. This equates to around 2,800 IT devices donated to the community. Our Managing Director Glenn Jardine was pleased to meet with the Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Hon. Madeleine King MP in Karratha today following an agreement with the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility (NAIF) for a $150 million loan to support the development of our flagship Hemi Gold Project in the Pilbara region.   This significant funding forms part of a planned senior debt facility for which we have already received credit approved term sheets from a number of leading commercial banks.   Hemi is not just the cornerstone of our growth strategy, but it will also be a key contributor to the economic diversification of the Pilbara. The development will deliver long-term regional infrastructure and open up new mineral processing capabilities in one of Western Australia’s mining heartlands.   Our commitment to working closely with the Kariyarra People, the Native Title holders of the Hemi lands, remains paramount. Our GM People & Capability, Courtney, attended AMEC (Association of Mining and Exploration Companies)'s Boardroom Lunch with the Hon. Minister Simone McGurk MLA yesterday hosted by Kingston Reid, alongside fellow AMEC members.   Simone, Minister for Training and Workforce Development; Water; Industrial Relations, participated in an extensive discussion covering a wide range of topics. These included water availability as well as strategies to grow the pipeline of skilled people needed to drive the nation's renewable energy transition. This presentation offers a comprehensive outline for the road ahead for our Hemi Gold Project.    In his presentation, Glenn discussed our strategic roadmap, emphasising our commitment to becoming a top five Australian gold producer. All funds raised at the Breakfast are reinvested into providing year-round cancer prevention, screening and support services to local women, including:    - Lifesaving cancer screening and health checks - Cancer rehabilitation physiotherapy with Pilbara Therapy Services  - Quarterly Cancer Support Group lunches  - Cancer Peer Support events such as exercise, nutrition and mental health workshops   - Advocating for cancer patients and carers on an individual and community level - Free counselling for those on a cancer journey as well as their carers.
