  • Pip Pip Hooray! 🎣 Recreational fishers can look forward to an exciting Pipi season starting this Friday, November 1. This year, the bag limit for Goolwa pipis taken east of 136 degrees east (including Goolwa beach) has increased from 300 to 330, with a vehicle limit of 990 for groups of three or more. The possession limit has also been raised to 1320. The size limit of 3.5cm remains unchanged. Pipis, known as kuti in the local Ngarrindjeri language, have been a traditional food source for First Nations people in South Australia for thousands of years and are increasingly popular in seafood dishes. Enjoy your time collecting along Goolwa Beach while helping to maintain sustainable practices! #recfishingSA #PIRSA

  • Last week, a delegation of Nepali Forestry Officials and industry representatives visited PIRSA with an aim to develop a broader understanding of the government-industry roles in promoting timber industries that generate jobs and income. 👷♂️ Supported by the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade the delegation also planned to visit several forestry educational, research and industry sites in SA, including ForestrySA and those based in Mount Gambier. PIRSA's engagement with the delegation aligns with its key priority to 'Stimulate Value Growth' by championing South Australian primary industries and regions in local, national and global forums.

  • 📢 A massive congratulations to Dandelion Vineyards for being named the global winner of the Best Of Wine Tourism Award for Architecture and Landscape. The South Australian winery has been internationally recognised for its spectacular innovative design connecting guests to its beautiful surrounds. Owners Elena and Zar Brooks brought this unique cellar door to life by repurposing the footprint of an old tractor shed into what now is called the Wonder Room. A warm and welcoming space which creates a memorable wine tourism experience for guests to enjoy a 180-degree view of the vineyards of Firehawk Farm. Visit Dandelion Vineyards in McLaren Vale and see for yourself 👉 https://ow.ly/TP0z50TSbnx The award was presented by Alex Trescowthick, representing the South Australian Wine Industry Association, and accepted on behalf of Dandelion Vineyards by Jo Collins, Executive Director at PIRSA, and Chair of the Great Wine Capitals for Adelaide, South Australia. • Penola has taken the title of 2024 Agricultural Town of the Year 🥳 On the state’s Limestone Coat, Penola, part of the renowned Coonawarra region, is a town of 1,400 people. Ag town judges noted the agricultural variety of the town, including dairy, beef, forestry, wine and more, as “ag upon ag upon ag”. Additionally, the town’s commitment to agricultural education and its strong collaboration between its local community and its council was another stand out. The second award presented last night was the Regional Resilience Award, and we congratulate OzFish Unlimitedas the winner. This volunteer group has restored fish habitats in the Bundaleer Reservoir, improving the ecosystem for species such as the Murray Cod. This project has built a strong relationship with the community to support sustainable future fishing practices. 🙌 PIRSA, with Solstice Media, was proud to present these awards last night to the winners and we congratulate all other finalists for their hard work. We look forward to seeing your communities thrive. InDaily | Wattle Range Council

Did you know carbon farming provides opportunities to address climate change, can increase production efficiency and improve resilience? Carbon farming is managing land to reduce carbon in the atmosphere, and through the Growing Carbon Farming Demonstration Pilot, we are supporting six projects that focus on reducing emissions and storing carbon, as well as other co-benefits like improving biodiversity.
