Delays in SDA dwelling enrolment are creating significant barriers for participants, even when they have the necessary funding! Mak from Blossom Community Care explains that while participants find suitable homes, they’re often unable to move in due to slow processing times with the NDIS—sometimes up to eight weeks. This extended wait impacts not just the participants but also their families, who often lack the necessary support during this time. The effects are especially hard on those who need 24/7 care in specialised homes, as they’re left waiting without proper accommodations. Mak and the team at Blossom Community Care, are determined to change this. Their goal is to streamline the process and advocate for quicker enrolments, ensuring participants get into the homes they need, with timely support.
