This could be the number one trait that companies could look for when hiring. "What is this person's propensity for risk?" "How do the handle a situation when confronted with objections?" "Do they go beyond just the confines of the role and challenge the status quo?" You're welcome.

STOP Asking for Permission - Start Making Things Happen ✋ The A-players, the best of the best, all have one thing in common: They don’t sit around waiting for permission—they just act. Over the last three months, I’ve focused hard on this in my business. And guess what? It works. No emails seeking approval. No second-guessing. Just bold moves that drive results. And here’s the truth: It’s easier for people to say ‘No’ than ‘Yes.’ I learned this as a parent. When your kids ask, ‘Can I do this?’—the automatic response is often 'No,' because it’s safe, easy, and familiar. The same thing happens at work. You pitch a new idea? Prepare for a lot of hesitation umming and ahhing. But if you take the first step and show some progress, suddenly, it’s a whole lot harder for someone to shut it down. Example: Put It into Practice Let’s say you’ve got a game-changing idea—something that could save time, boost sales, or streamline processes. You could: Draft a detailed proposal Book five meetings to get buy-in Wait for someone to say 'Yes' Or... You could just do a small pilot project on your own. Test it, show some results, and say, ‘Look what I’ve already done.’ It’s bold, but action speaks louder than ideas. The reality is, no one gets mad at the person who quietly fixed a problem without being asked. Three Ways to Stop Asking for Permission (and Get Things Moving) Start small, but start now. – Take the first step. Even a little progress builds momentum. Expect resistance—and don’t sweat it. – Pushback is normal, but progress wins people over. Own the outcome. – Whether it flies or flops, you’ll grow from taking action. Here’s the Challenge What’s one thing you’ve been holding off on because you’re waiting for someone to say, ‘Go for it’? Stop waiting. Do it today. If it doesn’t work? Say sorry. If it does? You’re the person who made things happen—and that’s the person who stands out. Ask for forgiveness, not permission—and see how much faster things start moving. There endeth todays lesson.

Don’t Have a GTM Strategy for Hiring? Here’s Why You Need One. If your business has a go-to-market strategy for your products, why not for your hiring? A GTM for recruitment ensures you’re always ready with a pipeline of talent, reducing the scramble when you need to fill a role

The Number One Hiring Mistake Costing You Thousands 💸 Let’s face it—panic hiring is killing your business, and it’s costing you thousands. An employee resigns, and suddenly, you're scrambling to fill the role. But by the time you’ve gone through CVs, interviews, and negotiations, you’re looking at two months to find someone, and another month before they start. That’s three months of lost productivity, all because you weren’t prepared. ❔ Why Does This Happen? Because most companies don’t have a proactive hiring strategy. They react to resignations instead of planning ahead. By the time you're desperate, you're making rushed decisions, often settling for the first person that seems "good enough." Here’s How You Can Avoid Panic Hiring: ➡ Plan for the Future—Now Do you know where your business will need talent in six months? If not, start mapping it out now. Effective resource planning helps you see gaps before they become problems. When you plan ahead, you’re recruiting before you’re desperate. ➡ Look Within Before You Look Outside Your next hire might already be on your team. Instead of jumping straight to external recruitment, focus on internal promotions and development. It saves time, money, and keeps your team engaged. ➡ Build a Go-To-Market Strategy Don’t wait until you need to hire. Have a GTM strategy ready to go, so when a role opens up, you’ve already got a talent pipeline in place. Cultivate relationships now, so when the time comes, you’re not scrambling. Stop Reacting, Start Preparing 🐿️ The truth is, panic hiring costs you far more than time. You’re risking lost productivity, stressed teams, and a bad hire. Take control by getting ahead of your hiring needs with resource planning, internal promotions, and a solid GTM strategy. You'll thank me later.

Leaving a LinkedIn voice note can be a lesson in humility. First, you have to get rid of the AI message that is automatically generated when you message a new connection. "Hi Susan, It's great connecting with you. How have you been?" 🤦♀️ Secondly, you have to hold the record button and once you let it go, the message gets sent. You can swipe to delete but that's clunky enough that for sure you're going to send something that was a right mess. But they are a great tool for building a brand that goes beyond your name. People can start to build a picture of who you are - and we know people buy from people. Do you use LinkedIn voice notes?

I go on about LinkedIn on the daily and for good reason. For a lot of corporate roles, I’m predicting that LinkedIn, as a social channel, will overtake traditional job boards. Even the jobs advertised on LinkedIn itself. Why? Well the ROI for one but also because of the poor candidate experience that applying for roles brings. So, if I’m using LinkedIn to find people, it makes sense that you should be using it to be found. Here’s something to get you started.

Don't let an inexperienced interviewer spoil your chances. 🙍♀️The Interrogator: peppering you with rapid fire questions without the chance to think or elaborate 🙍♀️The Distracted: much more prevalent with the increase in online interviews, they seem like they are anywhere but present 🙍♀️The Overtalker: you come out of the interview feeling like you hardly got a word in edgeways Recruiters make the best interviewees because we are used to controlling the situation. Take it from us, the best way to get your point across with a spiralling interview is to take control: 🙋♀️Slow down and take a pause before answering questions 🙋♀️Bring distracted interviewers back to it by asking questions about the business, and summarise your key points (your biggest things you want to get across) to keep focus 🙋♀️Re-direct an overtalking back to you by interjecting a "that's interesting, because that relates to my experience..." and bring the conversation back to you You should be able to walk out of an interview with the feeling that there's nothing more that person could know about you for the role. I recommend going in with 5 key things that you MUST get across. Good luck!

How to get the most out of LinkedIn 101. Follow people who post interesting content that will help you learn and develop. Each week, I'm going to give you someone that I'm getting lots of value from here on old Linky. I get it—not everyone spends as much time on LinkedIn as I do (I'm a recruiter, my network’s basically on speed dial). Every morning, I pick one or two thought leaders and dive into their content. Think mini masterclass with your coffee. This morning? I learnt: ☕how to better understand intent signals from prospects ☕the need to take time to understand pain points ☕better research will help get to the possible solution All thanks to Jen Allen-Knuth (a must follow if you're in sales). If you've got a feed full of sponsored posts and people starting new jobs, I reckon it's time to curate your connections a little more. Who’s on your must-follow list? What's your understanding of how AI is used in recruitment? Our bet is that most of what you think is AI, is actually automation. It might be searching a database, or building a list of people who have certain skills in their CV, but it's based on information that a human generates. It's not generative AI.

AI in Recruitment: What's really happening. There’s a lot of noise about AI in recruitment, but I can reassure you: Most of what’s being used in day-to-day recruitment is automation, not true AI. Here’s a breakdown of common myths: Myth: My CV can't get past the AI bot. Reality: Most recruitment tech we see daily is automation—tools that handle repetitive tasks like scheduling or initial resume screening. True AI, which involves learning and decision-making, is still on the horizon for most companies. Myth: Automation Equals AI. Reality: Automation streamlines processes and saves time but doesn’t replace human judgment. It’s useful for managing large volumes of data but lacks the deeper analysis and personalization that AI could offer. Myth: Implementing AI or Automation is Cheap and Easy. Reality: Whether it’s automation or AI, implementing these technologies involves costs and complexities. It’s not just about buying a tool but integrating it effectively into your recruitment strategy. What’s your experience with automation and AI in recruitment?
