✔️ The good news is there is still strong support for D&I action in Australian workplaces. 3 out of 4 workers continued to support their organisation taking action to become more diverse and inclusive in 2023. ❌ The bad news is opposition to D&I has doubled. Reflecting growing polarisation in Australia, opposition to D&I action in 2023 has doubled since 2019. Though still the minority, 7% of workers now oppose and strongly oppose D&I action. This is the highest opposition reported, compared to 3% in both 2017 and 2019, and 4% in 2021. While disappointing to see this, the majority of employers are creating inclusive environments and this has good outcomes for everyone and for businesses overall. Make sure to read the latest Inclusion @ Work Index now. This report addresses the unique problems of the post-pandemic workforce and lays out a case for D&I action as a proven solution. 👉 https://ow.ly/5jyx50TVXb5 #TheCaseForInclusion #InclusionAtWork #InclusionIndex #DiversityandInclusion #DiversityEquityInclusion #BusinessAustralia #HumanResources #Leadership #InclusiveLeadership #InclusionMatters #DiversityCouncilAustralia

🌟 We're still on a high from last week's 2024 DCA Diversity Debate! With support from major sponsor IAG, supporting sponsor Suncorp Group, and associate sponsor Telstra, attendees enjoyed an entertaining night, while dissecting one of the most important issues facing workplaces today: Is polarisation holding diversity and inclusion back? Two stellar debate teams went head-to-head: ✅ The affirmative raised concerns that polarisation in workplace discussions creates barriers to empathy and inclusive action. ❌ The negative argued that, while uncomfortable, polarisation can actually ignite meaningful conversations and help bring hidden issues to light. Ultimately, the audience cast their votes, and the audience vote favoured the affirmative team, who were declared the winners of the 2024 Diversity Debate. As DCA CEO Lisa Annese said, “The Diversity Debate is not just about intellectual sparring – it is a celebration of progress, community, and the shared goal of fostering inclusive environments across Australia." We're thrilled to see so many of you have kept the thought-provoking conversations going and we hope the important discussions continue driving diversity and inclusion in Australian workplaces. Huge thanks to our wonderful host for the night, Patricia Karvelas, and our brilliant panellists, Dee Madigan, Campaign Edge, Michael Hing, Thomas Mayo, Graeme Innes AM, Niki Kesoglou IAG and Lou Wall. How can organisations centre marginalised voices❓ To address the systemic inequities marginalised people experience at work, organisations need to understand how to centre marginalised voices. This is a way of shifting this power imbalance so that marginalised voices can be heard and acted on, in the same way that privileged voices already are. Our Centring Voice Guide offers practical recommendations on how organisations can effectively centre the voices of marginalised people when implementing diversity and inclusion (D&I) organisational change that focuses on them. “In a time of so much disruption and division, a focus on diversity and inclusion is more important than ever,” says DCA CEO Lisa Annese. Earlier this year, we released the fourth edition of DCA's Inclusion @ Work Report, which has been mapping the state of inclusion in Australian workplaces since 2017. While there have been a number of positive moves towards building inclusion at work, there are some sobering results needing critical attention. Read the report for a closer look at: * How inclusion and exclusion at work has changed post-pandemic, * What the state of support for diversity and inclusion is in 2024, * How inclusive workplaces are for First Nations workers in 2024, and * How to build team inclusion. 🌟 What a night at the 2024 DCA Diversity Debate! 🌟 Last night, DCA and our major sponsor IAG brought together business leaders, industry experts, and entertainers for an unforgettable evening exploring one of the most pressing issues in workplaces today: Is polarisation holding diversity and inclusion back? Two stellar debate teams went head-to-head: ✅ The affirmative raised concerns that polarisation in workplace discussions creates barriers to empathy and inclusive action. ❌ The negative argued that, while uncomfortable, polarisation can actually ignite meaningful conversations and help bring hidden issues to light. Ultimately, the audience cast their votes, and the audience vote favoured the affirmative team, who were declared the winners of the 2024 Diversity Debate. One thing was unanimous though: the work of our members and community as the everyday champions of diversity and inclusion in the workplace is critical. 🎉 Thank you to our wonderful host for the night, Patricia Karvelas and our brilliant panellists, Dee Madigan, Campaign Edge, Michael Hing, Thomas Mayo, Graeme Innes AM, Niki Kesoglou IAG and Lou Wall.
