Working in the public sector is a unique opportunity to serve the people of Western Australia and create positive, lasting change. Using Policy to Shape WA – the second course in our new SES Development Series – dove into how to incorporate citizen and user feedback to craft and implement social policies that are inclusive, responsive and forward thinking. Santa Cardenia from the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage found the course particularly beneficial. “It was excellent, giving us an opportunity to work across public sector agencies in the space of shaping policy,” she reflected. “The sharing of views, ideas and experiences has been really valuable.” This series, launched earlier in the year, aims to bolster the capabilities of Senior Executive Service (SES) members – the senior leaders of public sector agencies – equipping them with the skills needed to navigate their complex and multi-faceted roles with effectiveness and insight. There are 3 courses in the series, each offered several times a year. Each course is limited to 25 participants to maximise opportunities for them to share insights and learn from each other’s experiences.
