Congratulations to Alessandro on his official graduation. Rocky (known in the Dunlea community) has officially completed his Diploma in Social Science with Distinction and has been placed on the Dean's Merit List! 🎓 “I want to share this with you all as it is the very special team that became family over the years that gave Alessandro the care, support and encouragement he needed to find his passion, to be as successful as he is and to become the young man that he is today! As proud as I am of him, I am equally proud of the organisation and the amazing people who make it what it is! Thank you, will well, and truly never be enough!” – Elisa, mother
About us
Dunlea Centre, Australia’s Original Boys’ Town, is a residential, family preservation agency auspiced by the Salesians of Don Bosco. The therapeutic work is focused upon troubled young people and their families who are in crisis and at risk of family breakdown. Through a holistic, wrap around model of service delivery, the Dunlea Centre is able to support and assist families in healing broken bonds and building stronger familial ties. The program provides a nurturing, individualised learning program, enabling young people to maintain their school education at their own pace and ability. Concurrently, the program provides young people with invaluable life skills experiences including camps and sporting activities. Other activities include skills development through counselling, anger management, conflict resolution, hospitality, personal hygiene and health awareness. This individualised approach provides the foundation from which young people can commence making positive modifications in their lives. It really is “a place for change”. Dunlea Centre is a registered charity that relies on the goodwill and generosity of the community for funding and maintaining its programs. Donations and bequests that fund these programs make a distinct difference in helping to address the emotional difficulties that many families endure. Your support is a valuable way to give back to the community and help families and young people who are struggling to embrace a better future. Don Bosco, the founder of the Salesian order of priests, believed there is ‘no such thing as a bad child’. The provision of patience, gentleness and love are at the heart of the work we do each and every day. Please support Dunlea Centre by making a contribution to the programs that help troubled young people and their families. Help give these young people and their families an opportunity to make positive changes and build a brighter future. www.dunleacentre.org.au

Last Thursday, our school community gathered to celebrate the achievements of our outstanding Stage 6 students at our Graduation ceremony. We’re immensely proud of all they’ve accomplished at Dunlea and wish our graduating seniors the best as they embark on the next chapter of their lives 🎓 A heartfelt thank you to Bianca, Mackenzy, our dedicated staff, and our student committee of volunteers for their tireless efforts in making this event so memorable. We also appreciate the support of all the families, carers, and friends who joined us in celebrating. Swipe through for photos of the evening, which began with a Guard of Honor escorting the young people to our Oratory. . . . #dunleacentre #boystown #stage6dunlea #graduation #dunleagraduates #classof2024 #engadine_florist

Staff vs Students Day was a nail-biter! 😬 The students came out on top for the third time this year, but the final score of 44-45 showed just how close the battle was. A big shoutout to our primary students, Judd, Mickey & Toby, who stepped up and supported their peers in oz tag. It was a fantastic day filled with fun, competition and pizza 🍕 . . . #dunleacentre #boystown #community #placeforchange #staffvsstudents #dunleastaffvsstudents

Dunlea Centre, Australia's original Boys' Town, has historic, social, research, and interpretive significance not just to the local community and to the state but to the nation! Museum and Heritage Consultant, John Petersen, spent time researching Dunlea Centre, specifically the years we operated as Boys' Town, and scripted a Significance Assessment detailing the Centre's nearly ninety-year history. The assessment was a valuable confirmation of what we have long held to be true: Dunlea Centre has and always will be significant to our young people (Old Boys, too), their families and the community. * This Significance Assessment was supported by the Community Heritage Grants program. The Community Heritage Grants program is funded by the Australian Government through the National Library of Australia, the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, the National Archives of Australia, the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia and the National Museum of Australia.
