Creating and investing in sustainable places for Queensland to prosper
About us
Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) is the Queensland Government’s land use planning and property development agency. We embrace partnerships across government, industry and the community to deliver new residential communities, urban precincts and industrial ecosystems. Backed by the Economic Development Act 2012, EDQ has unique planning and approval powers and a mandate to create private sector investment opportunities by de-risking and unlocking land for redevelopment. EDQ has planned and facilitated the delivery of some of the largest residential developments in Queensland, as well as some of the state’s most iconic urban renewal projects. We set benchmarks for the property industry through innovations and we’re creating jobs of the future in regional Queensland by unlocking land to promote priority industries, including clean energy and large-scale manufacturing. EDQ partners with industry, government and the community to unlock development opportunities in strategic locations throughout Queensland across housing, enterprise and place-based outcomes aligning with government priorities Learn more about us 👉 https://www.edq.qld.gov.au Our Statement of Commitment 👉 https://bit.ly/3HcI1S7

What an incredible evening at the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) Gala Awards ✨ We are thrilled to announce that our Northshore Brisbane precinct has won the Excellence in Environmental Award! 🌿🏆 This recognition highlights the incredible impact of our Northshore Brisbane Street Renewal Program, which is increasing tree canopy cover to cool the precinct, reducing outdoor heat exposure, and creating vibrant habitats. The program also features climate-resilient trees and culturally significant vegetation for First Nations peoples, contributing to a greener and more sustainable future. At Economic Development Queensland, our vision of sustainable urban communities comes to life through innovative, integrated designs that support active transport, eco-friendly living, and long-term climate resilience. 🚴♂️ A huge thank you to the Infrastructure Sustainability Council (ISC) for this recognition. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the vision and commitment of our dedicated team and partners, whose collaboration has driven these lasting environmental benefits. #Sustainability #Innovation #MarketLeadership

EDQ is committed to building strong, resilient, and connected communities. 💪✨ This commitment was vividly demonstrated when Flipside Circus, a cherished partner at our Northshore Brisbane precinct, was faced with fire damage to their premises earlier this year. With the help of our amazing precinct partners — Superordinary, Pink Flamingo Spiegeland, Eat Street Northshore, and Grolife Property Services — we rallied together to provide immediate support with temporary storage, rehearsal spaces, grounds maintenance, helping them keep their vital programs running. This collective effort showcases the power of place-based partnerships and the profound impact they can have on a community. 🤝🌟 At EDQ, we're proud to stand alongside our communities in times of need, proving that our partnerships are not just about place but about people. 🏘️❤️ Read more about the power of connected communities here: https://bit.ly/3YWEmBX #Partnerships #EDQ #ConnectedCommunities

This week at the UDIA Queensland Building Waraba Event, Economic Development Queensland in partnership with the City of Moreton Bay outlined the exciting future of this Priority Development Area (PDA). Our team presented key updates on how this 3,000-ha development will unlock housing for 70,000 Queenslanders 🏘️ We outlined the Interim Land Use Plan (ILUP), and the strategic direction for Waraba’s development, and highlighted the infrastructure funding framework and the progress of the Development Charges and Offset Plan that will underpin the growth of this new city. Waraba is set to be a game changer for the region, and EDQ’s strategic involvement will ensure this growth is sustainable, delivering vital infrastructure and housing to meet Queensland's needs. EDQ is focused on creating vibrant, connected communities through thoughtful development and collaboration with local government. Celebrating Indigenous Business Month ❤️🖤💛 This October, Economic Development Queensland (EDQ) proudly celebrates the 10th annual Indigenous Business Month, reaffirming our ongoing commitment to empowering First Nations business and communities, and building meaningful relationships. As the land development agency for the State, EDQ is focused on ensuring First Nations perspectives directly shape the spaces we create and the work we do. Our First Nations Framework guides us in partnering with Traditional Owners, investing in cultural capability, respecting protocols, and supporting First Nations businesses. Through this collaboration, we create significant opportunities for economic participation and cultural storytelling. Over the past 12 months, we've had the privilege of working with several First Nations businesses, including First Nations Civil & Contracting Pty Ltd, Nyanda Cultural Tours, Bridgeman, Hillery Group, Birrunga Gallery and THEE Group.
