As we reflected on R U OK?Day on 12 September, it was inspiring to see the incredible initiatives that took place across our regions. This year, we didn’t just ask, "Are you OK?"—we made wellbeing a daily focus through thoughtful activities that brought EDL people closer together. 🌏 From the Brisbane team's Wellbeing Week – filled with uplifting activities like the Compliment Chain, Wellbeing Wall and a refreshing STEPtember walk through the Botanic Gardens – to the Self-Care Bingo in North America, and the UK’s thoughtful ‘£10 Challenge’, kindness and support were at the heart of everything we did. A huge thank you to Neavh Uhr, Tracey McEwan and Samantha Helmer for organising such thoughtful activities, and all EDL leaders, managers and teammates who encouraged connection during the week. We want to be part of solutions to help address local issues and opportunities, and that’s why I’m proud to participate in this year’s CEO Bike Build by TRACTION," said EDL Chief Operating Officer Jason Dickfos. 🚲 Last Friday, Jason had a blast following the guidance of his young ‘mentor’ while assembling a BMX bike at TRACTION’s CEO Bike Build. This event is a cornerstone of TRACTION’s annual fundraising efforts, which provides a unique opportunity for senior leaders to engage with young 'mentors' and support their personal growth. EDL is proud to continue its long-standing support for TRACTION —a charity dedicated to helping 12-15-year-olds overcome challenges and reconnect with their education and social life. We are pleased to announce the appointment of Aron Gunn to the role of General Manager United Kingdom & Europe. Aron and his family have relocated from the United States where Aron was previously the Reciprocating Engine General Manager across our North American operations. EDL Chief Operating Officer Jason Dickfos said, “it’s fantastic to see Aron’s progression in the business, starting as an Operations Supervisor in Moranbah through to now having P&L responsibility for the UK.”  Aron joined EDL in 2015, initially working in our Clean Energy business in Central Queensland. He later progressed into management roles in Australia and the US, gaining considerable experience in operational and safety leadership, as well as customer relationship and contractor management. Aron is replacing David Truelove, who has left the business after nearly 10 years leading EDL’s UK & Europe landfill gas to energy operations. “I would also like to thank David for his contribution to the success of EDL, particularly the UK business, over many years,” Jason said. 🤝 EDL’s Young Professional’s Network (YPN) gives graduate program employees and student interns opportunities to socialise and develop a peer-support network during the early phases of their careers.   🍽 The YPN recently got out of the office for a day of volunteering at FareShare’s Brisbane Kitchen, which is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere!   🍱 Fareshare is a non-profit organisation that cooks and distributes frozen, pre-packaged meals to those in need. Established in 2001, Fareshare has made and distributed millions of delicious, healthy and nutritious meals to Australian’s experiencing hardship.   🚚 The YPN team toured the new and advanced commercial kitchen and learnt about Fareshare’s work in remote and disaster-struck communities.    👨🍳 👩🍳 The volunteers let loose their competitive spirit and raced to perfectly pack 2186 meals. 🖐 Meet Enrique Cisneros, the Maintenance Supervisor at our Tessman Road Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) plant in San Antonio, Texas.  👷♂️ Enrique joined EDL in 2021 as the team was being assembled to launch the Tessman Road facility, which has capacity to produce 1.2M MMBtu of pipeline quality renewable natural gas, or biomethane, per year from waste landfill gas.  🔧 He said despite being new to renewable energy when he started at Tessman Road, the previous 30 years spent maintaining plant and robotic systems in food production, commercial laundries and automotives, meant he quickly picked up how to keep his new site running smoothly. 🗨 And with the perspective gained from immigrating to the United States from Mexico, and learning to speak English as a second language, Enrique said the most important part of maintaining a plant well is the teamwork and clear communication amongst his colleagues.  “I definitely think EDL’s best asset is its people,’’ Enrique said.  Thank you, Enrique! 🚌 RNG produced at Tessman Road is used to power several hundred of the Via Metropolitan Transit bus fleet in San Antonio or sent to customers in Canada where it offsets natural gas supplied in reticulated networks for domestic and commercial use. #renewablenaturalgas #RNG #decarbonization #teamwork
