Eidos is a place for disparate voices. Our most recent seminar, Shaping Australia's Policy Direction, was no exception. It was great to see our speakers, public sector leaders, and academics connecting around an important discussion. Looking forward to translating ideas into action.

Turning ideas into action
About us
Eidos is a network of partners seeking to change the way Australia’s important social and economic challenges are solved. Eidos aims to be an impartial incubator of fresh ideas and critical thinking on significant and difficult problems facing the Australian community. Eidos does this using an action-research method, engaging with its partners and experts to bring forward insights speedily, make sense of the intelligence received and investigated, define appropriate and practical action, arrange connections to specialists well-placed to assist in implementation, and distill, transfer and assemble knowledge for further impact. Areas of particular concern include fostering social enterprises rather than welfare services; driving innovation in sentencing and law reform; and connecting sport, service and education to create new leadership opportunities for Indigenous Australian youth, and practical action for positive change. The end goal is to serve the public interest, namely, contributing to Australia as a smart, fair, compassionate, inclusive and economically successful nation, whose people have opportunities and choices to enhance their wellbeing and livelihoods.

AI augmentation in the enterprise space is evolving rapidly, and at the core of this shift is how businesses are leveraging proxies to enhance productivity and decision-making. Unlike traditional AI agents, proxies are trained to reflect the unique preferences, workflows, and objectives of the individuals they represent, creating a powerful moat that ensures seamless integration into daily operations. With this innovation, we’re witnessing a significant transformation in how leaders delegate tasks and manage meetings, allowing them to focus on strategic priorities while their proxies handle the rest. This evolution is redefining enterprise workflows, providing a glimpse into a future where human and digital collaboration is not only efficient but personalised. The growing adoption of enterprise augmentation solutions is gaining momentum, with AI agents stepping in to support routine tasks and decision-making. With over 30% of organisations already trialing AI agents and another 40% planning to implement them in the next year, it’s clear this technology is reshaping the future of work. As businesses move beyond traditional automation, proxies offer a competitive advantage by taking augmentation to the next level – twinning the organisation and their staff to reflect unique human preferences and workflows, ensuring a seamless, personalised augmentation to productivity. There’s a clear intersection emerging as human expertise begins to merge with the precision and efficiency of AI. Ben Johnston and I recently talked to Alexandra Cain from The Australian Financial Review about these exciting changes and what they mean for leaders. Our conversation explored how proxies are attracting attention from executives looking for bespoke solutions to optimise their operations. We discussed how proxies offer a distinct strength by blending human insight with intelligent delegation, ensuring operations continue without sacrificing the personal touch. The interview was published in the AFR and highlights some of the strategies and areas of focus for Mindhive and System Operating as we continue to innovate in this space. 🚀 AI and the Future of Public Service Collaboration 🚀 At Eidos Institute, we believe in pushing the boundaries of innovation, and Bruce Muirhead's recent exploration into the role of AI and multi-agent systems during Australia’s 2024 Innovation Month exemplifies this. His post highlights how 123,000 public servants leveraged Mindhive to explore the transformative potential of AI in public service, resulting in groundbreaking insights. This experiment demonstrates how advanced AI systems, with 30+ agents, are setting new benchmarks in collaboration and public sector efficiency. For those passionate about the intersection of AI and public service, this post is an essential read. 👉 Dive into the full insights here: https://lnkd.in/gtB-P8fB #AI #Innovation #PublicService #EidosInstitute #Collaboration #Mindhive #Technology #MultiAgentSystems
Most recent research now shows us that AI systems with lots of agents can do better than simple AI in almost any task. This shows how powerful multi-agent systems can be for innovation and efficiency. Humans, AI-agents, and proxies working together to unlock unprecedented possibilities. Reshaping the way problems are solved and people work together all over the world. In July 2024, over 123,000 Australian government workers were invited onto the Mindhive platform to see how AI and multi-agent systems could change how public services are delivered. This experiment was new and sometimes uncomfortable, but it led to a lot of innovation. It showed how AI could be used in real-time, which led to twice as many people getting involved and 30 new ideas and 26 useful insights. Over 19 days, AI agents and people worked together to come up with 30 new ideas and 26 useful insights. AI helped people talk and find important points. At times they also spoke too much and clearly didn't display deep local knowledge of an issue. This wasn't just another tech project; it was an experiment that showed how AI could change how public services work and gave participants a real-time experience. This experiment is more than just a story; it's a look into the future of public services. The information learned will be used to make government services better, faster, and more in line with what people need. AI is more than just a buzzword; it's a tool that can change things. The 2024 Innovation Month showed that even when it's hard, using AI in public services can lead to real and important results. Australia is showing the world how AI can be used to help people. WE ARE ALIVE! MindHive, an Australian startup that has been disrupting team, organisational and community consultations, is running an online event in which you can engage with both people and AI specialist avatarS to facilitate discussions, effective teamwork and decision-making. A recent designated addition is a new platform MINDHIVE EARTH, which is "...set to address global challenges by forging powerful alliances with global enterprises, intergovernmental organisations and think tanks." I am hugely excited to be part of these MindHive dot AI online discussions on the Sustainable Development Goals. It is part of a series of such events on all the different SDGs. And I am excited to be moderating this one together with Jason Shaplen my colleague at the Asian Leadership International Executive Coaching outfit. So please if this is of interest, jump on the discussion and see if there are any points in it that you could or would be interested to contribute a thought. The process is structured as such that through and after the discussion, the platform moves into ideation and offers a whole set of conclusions and further discussion/options to take it forward. There is no cost or commitment involved - this is purely an exercise in thought leadership! Link is in the first comment. Hope to see you online, Michael #transformationalleadership #communitybuilding #AI #education

Meet our discussion hosts for Week 8, Michael Bartura and Jason Shaplen from ALI Executive Coaching. Michael and Jason bring a wealth of experience in leadership development, mindfulness-based coaching, and strategic advisory roles. Their unique approach to coaching and leadership is grounded in the principles of self-awareness and conscious practices. One of my favorite insights from Michael in the discussion so far is: "One of the interesting shifts in leadership theory over recent years is the understanding of how self-awareness and emotional intelligence should take a central place in the manager/leader's toolbox. Research suggests that the cornerstone for applying these is so-called Executive Presence. The wonderful bit about cultivating such a presence is that it is helpful both in terms of understanding the inner psychological terrain of oneself, as well as the capacity to communicate well and connect successfully and purposefully with others. Therefore, I dare say that a crucial quality we should infuse in younger people is the thirst for self-reflection and growth." Join us as we explore how these insights can transform leadership and drive impactful change in our communities. #LeadershipDevelopment #ExecutiveCoaching #MindhiveEarth #SelfAwareness
