Recently, our Founder, had an insightful discussion with Jerome Doraisamy at Lawyers Weekly about the positive duty to eliminate workplace sexual harassment and sex discrimination. Having led the development of the Australian Human Rights Commission's positive duty compliance framework she reflected on the current state now 10 months since enforcement commenced. Prabha raised a critical point: many employers still lack awareness of their responsibilities to eradicate sexually harassing and sexist behaviour, a concern echoed by findings from the recent Our Watch survey. At Elevate, we've been proactive, briefing hundreds of board directors and senior executives on the new positive duty requirements. We've also emphasised the importance of understanding the impacts and drivers of workplace sexual harassment and the necessity of taking an intersectional approach. We spoke of the scourge of underreporting of harmful behaviours and why the team at Elevate created Australia's first trauma-informed and culturally safe reporting and support platform SafeSpace@elevate. https://lnkd.in/gJdapxSV Together, we can work toward safer, more inclusive workplaces for everyone. #WorkplaceCulture #PositiveDuty #Intersectionality #Leadership

It’s been another exciting week at Elevate! Our consultants have been traveling across the country, helping organisations foster safer, more respectful, and inclusive workplaces. This week, our Founder paused in Adelaide to chat with Dan Bourchier JP GAICD at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) on toxic workplace cultures in the start-up industry. They discussed why it’s crucial for start-ups to prioritise the prevention of sexual harassment and how this focus can drive innovation. Watch the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/g_Pysaru The latest statistics continue to reveal concerning levels of underreporting and a lack of trust in internal reporting systems for harmful behaviours. Now is the time to invest in your business’s future by empowering your employees to speak up. Gain deeper insights into your workplace culture with our Australian first trauma-informed reporting and support platform SafeSpace@elevate: https://lnkd.in/gJdapxSV

Why are so many talented women leaving tech? A new report reveals unacceptable bullying, sexual harassment and discrimination in the start-up industry. Today Elevate spoke to David Swan of The Sydney Morning Herald to discuss the risks inherent in start- ups and the opportunities to create safe and respectful cultures. https://lnkd.in/gHA_k4-e The report by Grapevine found that 96% of those who reported harassment or bullying had a negative experience dealing with senior leaders, HR or manager. But, change is happening. At Safespace@elevate we are actively helping to build cultures where all workers don’t just survive, but thrive. An Australian first trauma-informed reporting and support platform will empower employees to speak up and ensure companies mitigate risks early. https://lnkd.in/gJdapxSV It’s about creating spaces where harassment is history and inclusion is the norm. A culture where innovation flourishes because everyone is empowered to bring their best.

☄ The Australian Human Rights Commission’s latest report unveils widespread systemic racism impacting countless lives across the country. ☄ National consultations reveal that discrimination continues to harm individuals’ well-being, especially in education, healthcare, and the workplace. The report found there was a lack of trusted and effective reporting and redress mechanisms. Many participants considered complaint processes as complicated, potentially compromising their safety and security, and eventually leading to an unsatisfactory outcome. Importantly, the report highlighted that reporting and redress mechanisms requires a trauma-informed approach. As in many situations involving trauma, victims often name validation and empathy as critical for their psychological wellbeing. SafeSpace@elevate is designed by leading intersectional and trauma-informed experts to strengthen existing reporting mechanisms and provide wrap-around support to workers experiencing behaviours such as racism. https://lnkd.in/gGX2MAMa Trauma-informed and intersectional approaches are increasingly referenced without a deep understanding of their practical application. This superficial engagement can inadvertently perpetuate harm by ignoring the complexity and nuanced needs of individuals, especially those from marginalised communities. When these frameworks are applied without proper knowledge or integration, they risk reinforcing the very power imbalances they aim to dismantle, leading to exclusion or retraumatisation, rather than healing and inclusion. Reach out to discuss our : - trauma-informed investigations and support program and - workshops on effective intersectional approaches to eliminating harmful workplace behaviour facilitated by subject matter experts with lived experience success@elevateconsultingpartners.com.au Prabha Gulati Dr Varina Michaels Khayshie Tilak Ramesh Justine Vaisutis Katie Harris Liz Lindberg
