Recently, our Founder, had an insightful discussion with Jerome Doraisamy at Lawyers Weekly about the positive duty to eliminate workplace sexual harassment and sex discrimination. Having led the development of the Australian Human Rights Commission's positive duty compliance framework she reflected on the current state now 10 months since enforcement commenced. Prabha raised a critical point: many employers still lack awareness of their responsibilities to eradicate sexually harassing and sexist behaviour, a concern echoed by findings from the recent Our Watch survey. At Elevate, we've been proactive, briefing hundreds of board directors and senior executives on the new positive duty requirements. We've also emphasised the importance of understanding the impacts and drivers of workplace sexual harassment and the necessity of taking an intersectional approach. We spoke of the scourge of underreporting of harmful behaviours and why the team at Elevate created Australia's first trauma-informed and culturally safe reporting and support platform SafeSpace@elevate. https://lnkd.in/gJdapxSV Together, we can work toward safer, more inclusive workplaces for everyone. #WorkplaceCulture #PositiveDuty #Intersectionality #Leadership
