EPAA's Chief Expansion and Innovation Officer, Monica Jasuja, is proud to announce the publication of her latest whitepaper, "𝐔𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐄𝐫𝐚 𝐨𝐟 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐄𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧-𝐋𝐞𝐝 𝐎𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬," co-authored with AYUSH TRIPATHI and Soham Jagtap from The Dialogue. Key insights from the research: - Digital Infrastructure Impact: Leveraging UPI and JAM Trinity platforms has shown promising results in expanding financial access, particularly for women in rural areas. - Community-Driven Success: Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Bank Sakhis networks are proving instrumental in delivering financial literacy and credit access at the grassroots level. - Innovation Through Partnership: Public-Private collaborations are creating tailored financial solutions, from digital banking ecosystems to customised credit products for women entrepreneurs. - Economic Potential: Women-led startups deliver 35% higher ROI compared to those led by men, with the potential to create 150-170 million jobs through increased women entrepreneurship. The research highlights a compelling business case: accelerating women's entrepreneurship could generate over 30 million women-owned enterprises, while increased adoption of digital financial services could raise India's GDP per capita by 3-4 percentage points. Emerging Payments Association Asia and Meet-Her She Knows Payments remains committed to championing initiatives that break down barriers and create pathways for women's financial empowerment. We look forward to collaborating with stakeholders across the ecosystem to transform these insights into actionable change in 2025 and beyond! 𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐬, 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐌𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞: 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠—𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞. 🚀 The future of payments will be seamless, but who defines ‘normal’? Instant payments are rapidly expanding, pre-validation is unlocking new efficiencies, and access to data remains a key bottleneck. How do we leverage customer and network data while ensuring privacy, security, and trust in the system? During Arab Payment Week, Camilla Bullock and EPAA had the privilege of leading two engaging panel discussions with industry leaders: 💡 "𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 – 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐦" with Esam Alkheshnam (@KNET), Helena Forest (Mastercard), Pariwat Kanithasen (Bank of Thailand), and Tarek Raouf (Egyptian Banks Company.) 💡 "𝐏𝐫𝐞-𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐚𝐲𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 – 𝐖𝐡𝐲, 𝐇𝐨𝐰 & 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭" with Gloria Wan (J.P. Morgan), Fernando P. (Mashreq Bank), Alain Raes (iPiD), and Amir Matta (National Bank of Egypt (NBE)) Both discussions were frank and insightful, highlighting how perspectives shift depending on where you sit in the payment's ecosystem—as a global player, a local participant, the corridors you serve, and the evolving needs of consumers. A huge thank you to Buna (The Arab Regional Payments Clearing and Settlement Organization), Faisal Alhijawi and Mehdi Manaa for hosting such a dynamic event and setting the stage for a transformative year in payments! Did you know that in 2024, India faced a staggering ₹11,333 crore loss due to cyber fraud? Investment-based scams alone accounted for ₹3,216 crore from over 1,00,360 complaints, underlining the urgent need for stronger cybersecurity frameworks in the digital payment's ecosystem. EPAA's Chief Expansion and Innovation Officer, Monica Jasuja, had the honor of moderating ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India)'s Roundtable Discussion on Cybersecurity in Digital Payments & the Role of the Private Sector. This forum brought together an impressive group of stakeholders, including government representatives, cybersecurity experts, and leaders from Visa, Amazon Pay Mastercard, Google Pay, and the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐊𝐞𝐲: A unified approach between government and private sectors is crucial to safeguard India’s growing digital economy. 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐛𝐲 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧: Cybersecurity must be embedded into systems at the design stage, not as an afterthought. 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐕𝐮𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞: Expanding digital payment adoption hinges on safeguarding vulnerable populations. 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Upskilling teams across industries is critical to counter rising cyber threats. 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: Countries must work together to combat transnational cybercrime effectively. At EPAA, we firmly believe that trust is the foundation for scaling digital payments, ensuring financial inclusion for the underserved. Securing payment systems and fostering consumer confidence are non-negotiable priorities. We commend ASSOCHAM (The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India) for hosting this impactful dialogue and are proud to collaborate on such pivotal initiatives.
