About us
Energy Resources Queensland (ERQ) represents a newly formed cooperative of mining industry organisations, anchored by Queensland mine owner and operator QCoal. QCoal’s Byerwen coal mine and its workers have been directly impacted by the Queensland Government's decision to mandate the closure of the mining camp located on the lease, requiring the workforce to relocate to the nearby town of Glenden. In response to the government's secretive legislation forcing the camp's closure, ERQ has initiated a campaign aimed at the 2024 State Election on October 26. This campaign seeks to reverse the legislation, bring attention to the issue within the broader mining community across Queensland, and prevent future misuse of power by the government.
