Since its inception in 1987, the EWPA Yellow Card program has been a cornerstone of safety in industries where EWPs are used. With over 500,000 operators trained by more than 200 accredited trainers across Australia, the Yellow Card is widely recognised as a mark of quality training and safety compliance. The Elevating Work Platform Association (EWPA) is proud to announce the launch of its Digital Yellow Card Operator Licence, a significant step forward in ensuring the safety and competency of workers operating elevating work platforms (EWPs). This new digital version of the Yellow Card will help prevent fraudulent certifications and ensure that all operators have received proper training. #WORLDSTANDARDSDAY is today 14 October. World Standards Day recognises the incredible benefits of standards and their role in enhancing our daily lives. This day also highlights our mission to empower communities and the crucial contributions of committee members and stakeholders. Standards are crucial to the work that the #EWPA does and we would like to take the opportunity today to thank those members, who in the words of Standards Australia are incredible thinkers and leaders of industries, helping to research, develop and implement standards that deliver trusted solutions that positively impact Australians today and tomorrow. A special thanks to Robbie Wilkinson and Peter Wenn of Wenn Wilkinson & Associates (as well as many other members) for all the work they do on standards for the EWPA and TSHA. Thank you to all the #EWPA members who participated in Wednesday's EWPA State Meeting and to those who attempted to get there. It was a difficult situation with the grass fire burning nearby, but safety as always came first, and we fully understand why around half the registered attendees could not make it due to road closures. Very unlucky to have a fire at that time of our meeting, but we thank our suppliers who made significant efforts to demonstrate their EWPs and secondary guarding features. Without this unexpected situation, it would have been a brilliant meeting with over 70 attendees expected - and we will definitely be replicating this format in the future. Those who were able to attend were very impressed with the demonstrations and enjoyed networking with their industry peers. Most importantly, everyone stayed safe. A huge thank you to Luke Schubert and the NSW committee, to our suppliers for bringing their equipment and to Anthony (Tony) Lockwood and JCB CEA for your help in pulling this meeting together and providing us with an impressive facility. Also, thanks to The Pizza Boys who sat at the roadside for a couple of hours before the road re-opened so that everyone got to try their delicious pizzas!
