How do you fold bandsaw blades? There are many ways to do it, but one of the fastest ways to do it is called the 'pro flick', which Josh demonstrates for us. This is the way the experienced members of our team coil bandsaw blades. If it looks challenging, don't worry! There are other ways you can do it. You can learn about the easy bench twist method on the blog 👉 https://lnkd.in/gdnD7mTF #excision #bandsaws #bandsawblades #fabrication #metal

Did you know that the EM40 can use drill chucks, despite its compact design? This means that you can use it with standard twist drills hassle-free. It's a compact drill with premium features: ✅ Double-dove tail (this is what allows the height needed for the drill chuck) ✅ Solid brass guides for rigid gliding ✅ In-built safety with the magnetic adhesion sensor Find out more about the EM40 👉 https://lnkd.in/gZ23VAE5 #excision #drilling #industrial #fabrication

If your coolant stinks, it's not healthy. That rotten-egg smell is a sign that your metal working fluid is infested with bacteria. Bacteria can get into your tank from many different places. It can come from the water used for diluting and mixing, sludge in the machine sump, parts, tools in contact with the fluid, or the sweat on your hands. Once it's in, the bacteria will feed on the machine coolant, producing hydrogen sulfide (the Monday morning stench). It's not pleasant by any standard. You can't completely avoid it, but you can certainly do things to make your sump more bacteria-proof (and subsequently stench-proof). Why does coolant concentration change? There are two reasons: 1.      Evaporation. It gets hot in Australia, and heat causes water to evaporate. That means your coolant will get more concentrated, which isn’t ideal – you want to keep your coolant at a concentration of 5-12%. It’s easy to remedy with a top-up at a lower concentration. We even have a handy top-up calculator you can use 👉 https://lnkd.in/gmj6JRtr 2.    Drag-out Drag-out is the coolant that is removed with a workpiece when it’s taken out of the machining process. Basically – when metal working fluid flows over your workpiece a small layer is left behind – that’s called ‘drag-out’. It can have a surprising impact, causing the concentration of your sump to go down. What does this mean for you? You should always be checking your coolant concentration to keep it healthy and in optimal range – and counteract any fluctuations. We recommend to our clients to check their concentration at least once a week. #excision #coolant #industrial #metalworkingfluids #steel

A common myth people often believe is that you must clean your coolant tank every year. For anyone using traditional coolant, that’s true. If you don’t, you’ll end up with a workshop smelling like a bunch of rotten eggs. But neo-synthetics make that belief outdated. Take Nathan from Smith Engineering, who switched to Excision’s XDP 3800: "XDP3800 has been in my two mills for a little over two years with no changeover. Love it! Thanks." Nathan isn’t the only one. More and more machinists who switch to neo-synthetics are realising their coolant lasts longer, meaning fewer cleanouts and less downtime. We’ve heard of neo-synthetics lasting up to 7 years in the sump – and there’s no reason they can’t last even longer. #excision #engineering #cnc #cncmachining #innovation
