What a jam-packed day one at the 13th Annual Victorian Major Projects Conference 2024 @VICMP24 . It was great to talk to many of the conference attendees who visited the stand and to learn about their organisations as well as they learn about ours. Jobsbank CEO Dr Karina Davis and Client Solutions Manager Marion Olen spoke at the conference about the need for businesses to be holistic in their care and management of the people in their organisations, as many of the issues which occur in the broader community, occur in the workplace – though not always visibly. Quoting recent research from #ANROWS which highlighted 24% of men surveyed had used technology to engage in workplace technology facilitated sexual harassment. Karina and Marion highlighted the importance of businesses being aware of the issues which are likely occurring in their workplaces and the need for proactive management to prevent it from occurring and doing harm. They said, having a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace was one of the keyways to avoid this occurring, but it broadly required careful and purposeful management, which is easier to do than you think. 🚧 Victoria Major Projects Conference - Day 1 Highlights 🚧 Day 1 brought valuable insights into Victoria’s infrastructure priorities and project successes: 🔸 Queen Victoria Market: Adam G Williams shared how City of Melbourne’s $270M investment supports heritage restoration, repurposing manufacturing spaces, and F&B operations to revitalize this iconic market. Supported by federal, state, and city funding, the project faces complex heritage and planning challenges. 🔸 Victoria's 30-Year Infrastructure Vision: Jonathan Spear of Infrastructure Victoria outlined the 2021-2051 strategy, prioritising: - Expanding rail services in Melbourne’s growing north and west - Urban renewal and tram route redesign - Public housing and hospital upgrades - Ports and energy transition initiatives, including augmented electricity transmission by 2027-28. 🔸 Innovation in Procurement: Hannah Clement from Development Victoria highlighted the success of Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre, achieved through strategic partnerships and social procurement and talked through the Arden Precinct being a  landmark destination 🔸 Milestone Moment for Women in Infrastructure: Suburban Rail Loop Authority’s Megan Bourke-O'Neil celebrated the world’s first all-women tunnel boring machine crew on the Suburban Rail Loop.
