It was a peri peri impactful afternoon for these Nando's Australia & New Zealand team members in the FareShare Abbotsford kitchen – a big thanks to all the energetic, enthusiastic volunteers. This large crew was destined to turn up the heat and get lots done – and they didn’t disappoint! They prepared 903 free, nutritious gnocchi meals in a creamy ham sauce, and chopped 100kgs of ham (that is a huge amount!), and plenty of capsicum, corn, zucchini, eggplant and broccoli to boot. A special shout out to Nando’s CIO Ed Tollinton, who has been an incredibly generous pro bono supporter of our IT work. Nando's also partners with SecondBite to ensure their unused chickens find their way to people doing it tough right now! #teamvolunteering #teambuilding #teamwork #impact #mealswithheart #melbourne

Cooking 1000s of nutritious meals a day for people in need. Kitchens in Melbourne and Brisbane. Corporate volunteering.
About us
FareShare is a charity that has been cooking free, nutritious meals for people doing it tough since 2001. We believe that every Australian deserves a nutritious meal, regardless of their circumstances or location. FareShare operates Australia’s largest non-profit kitchens in Melbourne and Brisbane where chefs and volunteers work hand in hand to cook the best possible meal for every person in need. Each year FareShare transforms rescued, donated and our homegrown food into millions of delicious, healthy meals that feed dignity and wellbeing for Australians experiencing hardship. A homestyle meal shows that somebody cares and has an immediate impact. Our healthy meals are given away free to frontline charities such as soup vans, homeless shelters, women’s refuges, First Nations organisations and groups providing disaster relief. The need for meal relief has never been higher with the soaring cost of living, frequent natural disasters and the lingering effects of the pandemic hurting millions of Australians.

FareShare was honoured to be the Purposeful Partner at this year’s CAPA - Centre for Aviation Airline Leader Summit Australia Pacific 2024. As part of this wonderful partnership, the team from CAPA spent a morning at the FareShare Brisbane kitchen, where they spread their wings and helped us prepare more than 3,000 comforting, nutritious meals. At the summit, which brought together industry leaders in aviation and tourism, the SecondBite | FareShare corporate partnerships’ dream team of Matilde-Rose Andre and Jackie Maxwell had a blast networking and talking all things FareShare. All up, FareShare raised around $10k, including $4,200 from the sale of a piece of art that was made live at the gala dinner by artist Brad Blaze. A huge thank you to great hosts Brisbane Airport Corporation and Brisbane Economic Development Agency, to everyone we spoke to and/or who supported us during the summit, and to CAPA for choosing us as your Purposeful Partner. We absolutely loved being a part of it ❤️ #proudpartner #partnership #leadership #aviation #tourism #thankyou #brisbane

7 million meals!! That’s how many free, nutritious meals the FareShare Brisbane kitchen has cooked for people who need them most – in less than 6 years! If you have volunteered with us, participated in a corporate volunteering shift, donated or raised funds for us, spread the word about us, or supported us in any other way, we thank you all. We could not have achieved this wonderful milestone without you. Our 7 millionth meal was this delectable, homestyle beef stroganoff with mashed potato, which our chefs and volunteers cooked with care yesterday. Our second Victorian Meals for the Mob experience was another resounding success. A dozen enthusiastic Flight Centre Travel Group volunteers were joined by FareShare First Nations Officer Jason Mollenhauer and community members from Aborigines Advancement League for a meaningful afternoon in the FareShare Abbotsford kitchen. Together, they assembled and packed 436 nutritious, ready-to-eat Meals for the Mob, which will support First Nations communities across Victoria. On the menu: lamb chops on a lentil braise with broccoli and a spicy tomato sauce, yum! They also prepped 160kgs of pork and a heap of broccoli, snow peas, sugar snap peas, and capsicum, to be cooked into more meals by our talented chefs. A big thank you to everyone who participated, and to Flight Centre Foundation for your generous support of FareShare. #MealsfortheMob #community #impact #resilience #leadership #teamvolunteering #FirstNations #Victoria

SecondBite | FareShare is proud to collaborate with so many amazing organisations in getting quality food and nutritious, tasty Meals for the Mob to people in Aurukun experiencing hardship right now. “We will work closely with the Aurukun Shire Council and community to build resilience for seasonal impacts,” says Jason Mollenhauer, FareShare’s First Nations Officer. “This delivery is just the beginning. We are committed to providing Meals for the Mob well into the future.” Read the full story behind this logistical, collective feat in this First Nations Telegraph article: https://lnkd.in/gYrZeSNk #MealsfortheMob #community #logisticalfeat #resilience #FirstNations NABFOUNDATION Foodbank Queensland Indigenous Futures Foundation Share the Dignity ❤️
Aurukun Shire Council will deliver 1920 meals a month to vulnerable people in the community with the establishment of the FareShare Meals for the Mob program in Aurukun thanks to a collaborative effort with multiple organisations. Essential supplies have arrived in a refrigerated container donated by the Indigenous Futures Foundation with the support of the NABFOUNDATION. Foodbank Queensland has contributed five pallets of goods, Share the Dignity has donated a quarter pallet of personal care items, and SecondBite has filled the remaining space in the container as well as providing storage to facilitate loading and collection. Multiple services and agencies in community will stock the culturally appropriate and nutritious meals, providing them as relief to those who are experiencing food insecurity. This model will encourage community members to engage with programs and services that can support them to address the challenges being experienced in accessing appropriate food. #mealsforthemob

It was all zoom-zoom in FareShare's Abbotsford corporate volunteering kitchen recently, thanks to these volunteers from Mazda Australia Pty Ltd. They put their pedal to the metal, assembling and packing 659 beef meals with rice and mixed veggies, topping and tailing 20kgs of snow peas, chopping 70kgs of broccoli grown in our kitchen gardens, and more. Our chefs loved your energy and support; a big thanks to all involved for helping us provide free, nutritious meals to people in our local community who need them most. #zoomzoom #mazda #greatcrew #communityimpact #teambuilding #volunteering
