Our CEO, Kay leaves us this Friday after 15 years with the FFTITC. A lovely celebration was held on Thursday attended by Board members, current and previous staff members, other Training Councils + DTWD staff. In her speech, Kay said how lucky she was to be able have 15 years working on a job that she loved and how she valued all of the people she worked with, whom many she now calls friends. On Friday, Kay attended her last MIAC meeting at Muresk Institute and was presented with a stunning bunch of flowers that even had wheat stalks in them. Kay will be missed.

The FFTITC has been working with Albany stakeholders from the school sector, TAFE, and Forestry employers on a 'Careers in Forestry' project. Many people think plantation forestry is just working with the trees, but as you can see from Bernadette's post - it's much more than that. It has a very long supply chain! These wood chips will end up being high end paper products and silky fabrics like rayon, viscose and Tencel. #forestry #careers #cellulose #albany

We've been doing research lately on shortages of veterinarians and vet nurses in WA and why access to vet clinics is so important to pet owners. We no longer think of a dog or cat as 'just a pet'. Now they are members of our family and we are spending more time and $$ keeping them well and healthy. And in return, they are keeping us more fulfilled and healthier. Great research.

Here's our latest Nimble News. Our CEO, Kay was updating some of our policies recently and rather than re-invent the wheel, used some existing templates that were available from Safe Work Australia. How many small businesses get bogged down with work and often put off developing and reviewing their policies. So in the appetite of sharing, our main story of this edition is all about free resources in workplace health and safety. We hope that it saves someone some time and stops them from reinventing the wheel. #smallbusinesses #freeresources #sharing

A post from our CEO, Kay.... "After nearly 15 years with the FFTITC, I have decided it's time to move on. My last day is the 28th March. I have been with FFTITC , since its inception in May 2009 and have thoroughly enjoyed leading it. It’s a great job dealing with industry about their training and workforce needs and then hopefully make a difference to their sector. I've had the opportunity to learn so much and I've met some fantastic people , who I will really miss. Most of my LinkedIn network is due to this job! I’m not sure what I’ll be doing but will be transitioning to retirement and perhaps taking on some consultancy work or other part time work.   In the short term I’m going to take a couple of months off. We are advertising for a new CEO and would really appreciate you spreading the word. All the best and I hope that we run into each other again."
