🚨 McKinsey's 2024 Mobility Consumer Pulse report showed a concerning statistic that nearly half of Australian EV owners are considering switching back to petrol or diesel vehicles. Key reasons include: 🔋 Public charging limitations (35%) 🔋 High ownership costs (34%) 🔋 Range issues on long trips (32%) 🔋 Lack of home charging options (24%) Interestingly, out of the nine countries surveyed, Australians had the highest rate of potential switchers from EV back to petrol/diesel engines at 49%, compared to a 29% global average. It's an exciting time to be part of the Australian EV market! It's clear that we are still in our early stages when it comes to adoption and infrastructure, and we still have significant ways to go ⚡ #EV #SmartCharging #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #EnergySavings #GreenFuture Link: https://lnkd.in/ddET3pDY

🚗 Volkswagen is making a bold move in the electric vehicle (EV) market with a $5 billion investment in Rivian 🚗 Rivian are an EV company specialising in SUVs and Utes. This is definitely going to be huge for the Australian EV market, with current limited EV Ute sales in Australia (only 1 out of 21,327 utes sold during February was an electric model). 🔑 Key points: 🔋 This partnership will to enhance Rivian's EV architecture and software, helping it launch more affordable R2 SUVs and planned R3 crossovers by 2026. 🔋 VW is not a big player in the large SUV and pickup segments in the U.S. and it has failed to break through with its crossover electric SUV ID4 🔋 For VW, this move addresses its software challenges and broads its EV portfolio. 🔋 The joint venture is expected to commence in the fourth quarter of 2024. Exciting times ahead for the EV industry and the Australian consumer! Read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eVqYBPQp #EV #SmartCharging #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #EnergySavings #GreenFuture

🚗🔌Not in Australia but exciting new insights from RAP and ICCT reveal that managed electric vehicle (EV) charging can revolutionise Colorado's energy landscape. It’s important that we continue to take global learnings to keep up the momentum in the EV space. The report, "Unlocking System Savings with Flexible EV Charging," conducted by the Regulatory Assistance Project (RAP) and the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT), explores the economic and environmental benefits of managed electric vehicle (EV) charging in Colorado. Here’s how: 💰 Economic Benefits: 🔹 Managed EV charging could reduce Colorado’s electric infrastructure costs by $100 million to $300 million annually by 2035 and $200 million to $900 million by 2050. 🔹 Significant savings could cover the cost of Level 2 (L2) charging infrastructure in the residential sector, with net present value (NPV) of savings reaching up to $2,014 million by 2040. 🌍 Environmental Impact: 🔹 Smart charging supports the integration of renewable energy by shifting EV charging to times when renewable generation is high, reducing fossil fuel consumption and emissions. 🔹 Flexibility in EV charging helps flatten the net load curve, mitigating the need for additional utility-scale storage and enhancing grid stability. 🏡 Policy Recommendations: 🔹 Prioritise residential sector programs to harness the largest potential savings from light-duty vehicles (LDVs). 🔹 Develop customer programs and tariffs to promote participation in managed charging, particularly at the point of sale. 🔹 Integrate EVs into utility planning to maximize the benefits of vehicle flexibility. For more details, check out the full report by RAP and ICCT! 🚀 https://lnkd.in/dP8XsAsF #EVCharging #Sustainability #FutureMobility #ElectricVehicles #SmartCharging #RenewableEnergy #EnergySavings #GreenFuture

🔋 What an inspiring few days at the Smart Energy Council Expo at the International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) last week! 🤔 It was a fantastic few days that provided the opportunity to connect with diverse industry leaders, exchanging insights across various sectors. The wealth of knowledge shared at the Expo emphasised the exciting prospects ahead for Australia in the realm of smart energy, and the innovation required to hit our emissions goals. 🌳 A highlight for us was the privilege of hearing Mr. Suneet Mehta, Indian Deputy High Commissioner to Australia, share his profound insights on the future of India in the renewables landscape. His vision and perspective shed light on the collaborative opportunities that can shape the global renewable energy scene. 💪 Kudos to the organizers for fostering a space that encourages meaningful conversations and collaboration. Excited to be a part of this transformative journey towards a sustainable and energy-efficient future! 🌱💡 #SmartEnergyExpo #RenewableEnergy #evcharging #SustainabilityLeadership
