  • Innovation funding to keep children safe in cars! Freedom Solutions Australia is thrilled to be part of the innovative Safe Ride project, which is focused on finding better ways to keep children with disability safe in cars. Together with project partners, Mobility and Accessibility for Children in Australia Ltd (MACA ltd.) and Toyota Motor Corporation Australia, the Freedoms Solutions Australia team including volunteers and staff, came together to launch this important project. Freedom Solutions Australia (previously Solve-TAD) is a not-for-profit organisation that customises, designs and builds assistive technology solutions for people living with disability across New South Wales and Victoria. The organisation was excited by the opportunity to develop potentially lifesaving child safety equipment, thanks to a generous grant from the Office of Road Safety (Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts). Freedom Solutions has invited volunteers and carers of children with disabilities to provide their feedback and input into the project. Initially the Safe Ride project kicked off with a one-day workshop involving volunteers and carers of children living with disability. This input helps shape the product development and ensures the design is on track to deliver a safer alternative to current products on the market. We are very proud to be part of this innovative work and look forward to sharing the development of unique and tailored products to help with safety in vehicles for people with disability. #saferide #freedomsolutionsaustralia

  • It’s Paralympic Season and Freedom Solutions showcases a World Boccia standard Boccia ramp! As the Paris 2024 Paralympics gets into full swing, we are excited to showcase one of our most popular equipment, designed specifically for players of Paralympic sport, Boccia. Australians are fast becoming a leader in the sport as we send our congratulations to Australia’s Paralympians, Daniel Michel, Jamieson Leeson who both won individual silver medals in Boccia at Paris Paralympic Games this week. Boccia is one of the world’s fastest growing and most inclusive sports at the Paralympic level. For Boccia all players are required to be seated when releasing the ball, and most play from a wheelchair. Players can throw, kick or use a ramp to get the ball closest to the jack (white ball). The remarkable and clever team at Freedom Solutions, led by retired electrical engineer and volunteer Mike Muir have designed and developed an Australian-made Boccia ramp to offer all players of the game greater independence and capability. The Freedom Solutions Boccia ramp has a custom-ball mount that is chin operated and is fully compliant with World Boccia rules for Assistive Devices and the only Boccia ramp in Australia endorsed by Boccia Australia. We are thrilled that our new sleek, wooden Boccia ramp will offer more people with a disability the opportunity to enjoy playing the sport.  Other features include a sleek, lightweight design, which comes in three parts so the length and height can be easily adjusted, side hand wheels, easy to disassemble for storage and converts to a two-wheeled trolley for simple transport. If you or a member of your family plays Boccia already or is interested in starting this wonderful sport, visit our website and order your own Boccia Ramp from Freedom Solutions here: https://lnkd.in/gGnTh92P #boccia #freedomsolutions #inclusivesport #bocciaramp #paralympic #paris2024 #parasports #paraathlete #paralympicgames
