  • Keeping calm and carrying on General Services Superintendent Chris Francis joined Snowy 2.0 in mid-2022, and since then his team's size has nearly doubled. On this megaproject, General Services provide everything from the beds we sleep in to the covered walkways keeping Snowy Mountains weather at bay. They manage the catering contract, operate our busses, run the gyms, maintain the premises, and connect us socially across multiple worksites. It’s a huge undertaking. Chris isn’t daunted, though, and he describes his coworkers as a second family. “We have a huge support network on this project. We care for our colleagues and aim to send them home in the same, if not better, condition that when they arrived,” Chris said. “This relates to their health, wellbeing, and the training the will take to future prospects. Come on board and experience it for yourself.” When Chris started at Lobs Hole, the main camp only had a few rooms. Lobs Hole now has 1200 rooms and is nearing capacity. Cleaning duties, for example, have also grown exponentially -- both above ground and in the tunnels. “I’m proud to say we have risen to our challenges and have upskilled many of our staff members. We have a relatively small turnover rate.” Chris works a 2-1 roster and takes a charter flight home to Brisbane after each swing. His week at home with family is golden time, and the fortnight at work has upsides, too. It’s the ease of camp life and ability to save money that appeals mostly, but Chris doesn’t miss commuting in city traffic much, either. Finally, Chris appreciates the chance to build on the original Snowy Scheme for the benefit of future generations. “Snowy 2.0 looks to add to the original legacy here. The clean energy we produce will be a huge step in reducing our carbon footprint and it will help us move towards Australia’s #renewableenergy targets.” Visit our jobs page if you’d like to join Snowy 2.0: https://lnkd.in/gv_zNPe The Future Generation JV brings the combined engineering expertise of two companies – Webuild from Italy and Australian-based Clough. Our team combines local expertise with global experience. Together we will create a world class sustainable project enhancing the Snowy legacy for future generations.

The application of artificial intelligence in #Webuild’s construction sites, a new frontier of #innovation! 🇦🇺 In the Australian Snowy Mountains, #Webuild is developing one of the most ambitious #hydroelectric projects in the country’s history: #Snowy 2.0. Here, an innovative #AI application was tested on TBMs to reduce risks associated with the transportation of concrete segments: a software identifies interferences between the operator and the machine, and automatically stop the TBM without triggering alarms. 🎇 Empowering communities through supplier diversity! Supplier Diversity September is a time to celebrate the benefits of a diverse supply chain and highlight Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses across Australia. We are dedicated to increasing Indigenous business representation within our supply chain to help foster a prosperous, vibrant, and sustainable business sector. Our goal is to create lasting social, economic, and environmental impacts in the communities where we operate. Our H1 2024 achievements in Australia reflect this commitment, with $16.1 million spent with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses - a 42% increase from H2 2023!   With our parent company, Webuild, we are guided by our Reconciliation Action Plan and committed to delivering on our vision, to enable equal participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples across the nation-building projects we deliver. #CloughGroup #SupplyChain #Sustainability #LocalImpact #LocalBusinesses Supply Nation

  • Looking back on two years of progress When Deputy Superintendent Mechanical Plant and Equipment Jamie Chester joined Snowy 2.0, his team had just moved into new premises at Lobs Hole. Two years later, their job has grown but their workshop has not, so every decision is critical for maintaining high performance. Jamie is proud of the team’s skill, streamlined productivity, and safety record. “Ownership is important to me and people here put real dedication into seeing this project keep moving safely towards completion,” Jamie said. “We face challenging conditions but anything I say I am going to do, I will try my best to deliver. I am also happy to assist anyone who needs an outcome, and I see that attitude in many others here.” Jamie appreciates working on this iconic #megaproject in its unique setting. “This is a beautiful part of Australia. It’s a privilege to be involved in renewable, reliable energy that should look after our next generations,” Jamie said. With a 2-1 roster, Jamie works for a fortnight then flies home to Adelaide for a week’s R&R. Being away is a challenge, but he prefers seven precious days with his family to just the weekends. Tantangara is taking shape! The Snowy 2.0 project has recently achieved a number of significant milestones at its Tantangara site with the crew making tremendous progress.   ⭐ Gateshaft excavation has now been completed! The final drilling and blasting took the shaft depth from 47m to 50m. The team also finished the 20.3m C2 transition tunnel toward the Intake tunnel and the 12.6m C3 transition tunnel toward TBM Florence.   🚜 The intake structure has reached a major milestone with the final section of Intake Stage 02 blasted to design level, all while maintaining seamless operations. Huge thanks to drill and blast subcontractor, Precision Drill and Blast, for their collaboration!   ⛰ TBM Florence is on the move! After tackling challenging ground conditions, Florence is pushing ahead through tough terrain.   Well done to the entire team for their incredible teamwork, precision, and dedication.   Clough and its parent company, Webuild, are part of Future Generation Joint Venture - FGJV, the principal contractor for project owner Snowy Hydro Limited, delivering the iconic Snowy 2.0, a major Snowy Scheme expansion underpinning Australia’s transition to a renewable energy future.   #CloughGroup #Snowy2 #Engineering #Construction #ProjectUpdate

  • It was a privilege to support this visit - six First Nations workers were released from duties for an hour, and they gladly shared their career paths to inspire the Clontarf Foundation boys. Both Snowy Hydro Limited and our JV partner Clough have long supported Clontarf, and Webuild's first Reconciliation Action Plan is marching into delivering progress. 🚧 We were thrilled to have the Clontarf Foundation join us at our Snowy 2.0 project site in Lobs Hole last week. By engaging with our team on-site, the boys from the Tumut Clontarf Academy had the opportunity to explore the variety of careers available in renewable energy, both today and in the future. The boys got a sneak peek into what work and life look like on-site and heard from an all-Indigenous panel about career pathways and the benefits of economic independence for themselves, their families and their community. We love hosting site visits for our partners and connecting the next generation with our diverse team to inspire their future career paths.👷🤝 Future Generation Joint Venture - FGJV #careers #snowyhydro #community #partnerships
