OXLiD Ltd, a subsidiary of Gelion, has successfully fabricated a lightweight, ultra-thin, scalable and highly flexible Solid Electrolyte Separator (SES), validating IP licensed from Oxford University Innovation Limited (University of Oxford). The work was undertaken as part of its grant funded activities whilst part of the wave 7 cohort of the Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP), via the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC), funded by the Department for Business and Trade. This result enables Gelion to proceed to the next stage of optimisation for this separator which has the potential to not just increase the cycle life of existing #lithium metal batteries but also for Gelion’s high energy density GEN 3 lithium-sulfur (LiS) cells. This development directly ties into the Group’s mission to provide global energy storage solutions that are robust, safe and affordable with low environmental impact, enabling the supply of clean power for all. Testing of the GEN3 Li-S battery with this OXLiD developed SES will begin soon. Find out more at the link below ⬇️

Celebrating Diwali, the Festival of Lights at the Gelion office today! We are extremely proud of the diversity that makes up our team, and together we are celebrating renewal, sharing gratitude, and spreading joy (over some delicious, sweet treats!). Diwali is one of the most significant festivals in Indian culture, representing the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, and good over evil. It is a time for coming together with friends and family, for reflection and new beginnings. Diwali offers a wonderful opportunity for us to come together, recognise the rich cultural tapestry that makes up #TeamGelion, and learn from one another’s traditions. We wish you all a bright and prosperous Diwali! 🪔✨

Gelion (AIM: GELN) announces the incorporation of a wholly owned subsidiary, Battery Minerals Ltd (“Battery Minerals”), in the UK, to develop and then commercialise the Lithium-Ion (“Li-Ion”) recycling technology acquired from Johnson Matthey in 2023. Battery Minerals has also been awarded a grant of up to £170,000 by the UK government’s Department for Business and Trade (DBT) and facilitated by the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK (APC) as part of the Technology Developer Accelerator Programme (TDAP). The objective of Battery Minerals is to develop a novel recycling process designed to provide lower cost, lower waste, lower eCO2 and provide the ability to efficiently extract lithium from more battery scrap sources. The growing volume of battery waste presents an environmental challenge, an economic opportunity (projected to be worth $30-40 billion globally by 2030[1]) and a strategic opportunity (self-sufficient minerals supply).
