Just WOW!...what a week of insight, creativity, synergy, knowledge-sharing, and....FUN at the Global Safety Innovation Summit 2024 in beautiful Wollongong, Australia. I had the incredible opportunity to speak to and learn from over 600 professionals, executives, and safety experts from a wide range of high-hazard industries. And my key Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) takeaways were these: - That safety, for a resilient organization, must be pursued holistically, attending to both the physical and psychological/seen and unseen sides of safety - That what is safe and how 'safe' is achieved varies by context and whether the situation is simple, complicated, complex or chaotic - An understanding that we learn as much about safety by observing what goes right as we do when investigating what goes wrong - Awareness that safety is rarely if ever achieved/sustained or compromised by a single event, but is an outcome of a myriad of dynamic and emerging variables So, all of that, in addition to the AWESOME Safety Stock party!!!!, made for a memorable and meaningful learning event.
