As Geelong’s population grows, there is increased demand for quality healthcare services. Despite women making up most of Australia’s health workforce, they remain underrepresented in leadership and higher-paying roles. Many women report experiencing gender bias in diagnosis and treatment, with some feeling their symptoms or pain are dismissed. Last week, practice managers at GMHBA's Belmont and Geelong Hubs Tania Dalton and Priscilla Newey spoke to the Times News Group about how GMHBA strives to offer career opportunities women in the healthcare industry and provide exceptional allied health services that support all members and patients. #Geelong #healthcare #privatehealthinsurance #IWD #womeninbusiness

Health insurance premiums across the country are rising, adding more pressure to families already grappling with cost-of-living challenges. At GMHBA, we’re putting our members health and wellbeing first. We're proud to announce that we’ll be freezing extras base premium increases in 2025 for both GMHBA and Frank members. And while GMHBA members with hospital or combined cover may still experience an increase in their premium, the average increase of 2.4% across all GMHBA Limited products is lower than all major health funds and below the industry average for the third year running. CEO David Greig said: "As a not-for-profit, every decision we make is to benefit our members and community, not shareholders. For more than 90 years GMHBA has supported and empowered our community to live healthier lives, and we are committed to standing by them, especially in times like these." #health #costofliving #privatehealthinsurance #membersfirst #geelong

We are thrilled to share that GMHBA’s Graduate Program has been recognised by the Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) as one of the best in Australia (small programs). This recognition is a testament to the dedication, expertise, and passion of our entire GMHBA team. At the heart of this success are our rotation managers and mentors who have played a pivotal role. Their unwavering support, guidance, and commitment have fostered an environment where our graduates can thrive, develop essential skills, and contribute meaningfully to GMHBA. Program rotation managers Alasdair Dickerson, Anna Wilson, Angela Smarrelli, Joanne Popovic, Chris Edwards, Meg Rayner and Sammy Alam have provided our graduates with great hands-on experience across the program 1st and 2nd rotations, ensuring they have gained valuable insight across different areas of the business. Program mentors Maz Hachem, Dan Clair MBA GAICD and Kelly Christy have shared their expertise and offered invaluable career guidance, empowering our graduates to navigate their professional journeys with confidence. Program buddies Justin Brown, Sima Singh and Pippa French were an invaluable source of initial support, helping our first cohort settle into the GMHBA family and build strong professional relationships. And of course a solid learning and development foundation provided by our own L&D specialists has equipped our graduates with the knowledge and skills needed to excel in their roles - big thanks to Kerri Lawrence, Jessica Sharp, Kylie Paatsch, Shannon Virtue, Helen Rankin, and Dylan Stapleton. Many other staff have contributed along the way, by contributing to the initial induction program, or by supporting graduates in rotation teams.
