Our healthcare professionals face the daunting task of communicating complex medical concepts to diverse patient populations daily, and they are not provided with acceptable tools to help them with this task. Everyone is obsessed about generative AI and other shiny objects. Imagine we spent that much time and money on GENUINELY trying to improve health literacy and patient outcomes? 🤔 Don’t get me wrong - emerging and new tech brings such great potential to revolutionise how things are done in health. AI/ML, Genomics, Quantum Computing, VR/AR, Decentralisation etc - they’re all technologies that are going to play a great role in how healthcare is delivered. And I’m sure this will all create a few new interesting jobs and philosophical questions to keep us busy, some people will have fun building these things, and a handful of individuals will get rich along the way… But I don’t think many know that we’re leaving a lot of people - real people - behind in this process. Healthcare is a people problem. We need relationships, trust, and connection. We’ve lost that along the way... and this is just the beginning… So what do we do about it? Tune into the latest episode of Talking HealthTech this week on your favourite podcast player or YouTube to hear from Chris Pymble from Graphics et al. speak with Sophie Turner about bridging the gap between patients and the system. #healthcare #healthtech #digitalhealth #patientexperience

How can visual translation make an idea more accessible to a wider audience? Check out this incredible project from the Digital Health CRC Curiosity Camp’s tribe leader Jade Barclay. In this example the Graphics et al. team combined the tribe’s detailed industry knowledge with special education principles to develop a visual translation that overcomes educational barriers. This is an efficient and equitable way of communicating your content to audiences ranging from investors and funding bodies, to community groups and patients. #healthequity #accessibility

🔬 Multimorbidity is under the microscope 🔬 Tribe leader Jade Barclay from Delphi Institute sums up her tribe’s DHCRC #CuriosityCamp experience and outcomes... “In clinical practice, most patients have multiple chronic conditions - not just one. Focusing on multimorbidity exposes blind spots entrenched in systems, cultures, and guidelines that were designed to address single diseases one at a time. Prior to Curiosity Camp, we explored what would need to happen for our health research and systems to reflect the daily clinical reality of multimorbidity. Then, the week at Curiosity Camp enabled our team to clarify complex issues surrounding this wicked problem, and together we identified dozens of projects, from culture and system change, health promotion, and workforce capacity building, to equity-based research data and policy advocacy. To address multimorbidity gaps and progress these project concepts in sustainable and inclusive ways, we propose to establish a transdisciplinary and collaborative community of practice. Through this collaborative hub, bringing together expertise from industry, research, policy, practice, community, and lived experience, we aim to continue to develop and mobilise our Curiosity Camp ideas. Two priority proposals include a trial to extend GP and allied health appointment times to allow clinicians enough time to undertake a full and detailed patient history, and mechanisms to support best practice communication and collaboration among public and private multidisciplinary teams. We believe this could be a first step towards improving multimorbidity management leading to better outcomes, quality of life, and ongoing wellbeing for all patients and communities.” Jade’s tribe members and supporters: 🔬 Christopher Ewan Hanbury-Brown 🔬Manasha Fernando 🔬Nalika Ulapane 🔬Milena Lewandowska 🔬Rebekah Rankin 🔬Ritu Trivedi 🔬Leila Mouzehkesh 🔬Saranjit Singh 🔬Helen Alexiou 🔬Thomasina Donovan 🔬Chris Pymble 🔬Peter Birch Listen to Talking HealthTech's podcast with Jade Barclay and Dale Trevor here: https://lnkd.in/dCrScAb8 #DigitalHealth #DHCRCEmergingLeaders #CuriosityCamp #Research #Multimorbidity
