Cloud software to future-proof electricity grids, fast.
About us
Gridsight is a cloud analytics platform that helps electrical utilities transition from “poles and wires” businesses to distributed system operators. Gridsight specialises in using disparate network data to generate advanced, interactive insights. This empowers utilities to quickly and safely support more residential solar, batteries and electric vehicles, and identify safety hazards such as neutral degradation and circuit open points. Gridsight was founded in 2020 to maximise the renewables global electricity networks can host as safely and as rapidly as possible.

The Gridsight team enjoyed being back in Aotearoa, exhibiting at Electricity Engineers' Association of New Zealand #EEA2024 Conference last week! ⚡️ Our CEO, Brendan Banfield, PhD, and Endeavour Energy Future Grid Manager, Albert Pors, presented our work on model-free dynamic hosting capacity and operating envelopes. Meanwhile, Benjamin McCoy, Customer Success & Data Engineer, teamed up with Adrian Nadan, Counties Energy Head of Future Networks, to explore how EV charger uptake is shaping peak demand and impacting distribution transformer loadings, leveraging smart meter data. It was great to bring together teams from different EDBs at our Gridsight community events! 🚀 Shout out to the conference team (left to right): Greg Anderson, Robert Clear, Courtney Connolly, Brendan Banfield, PhD, Eezu Tan 🚀, Brad Smith, Benjamin McCoy and Benjamin Rees. 🙌 #EnergyInnovation #FutureNetworks #Decarbonisation

A wonderful final day of the #EEA2024 conference which included the opportunity to present a paper on asset data standards with Luke Petersen. A few interesting takeaways from today: 🔋 The Electricity Authority are consulting later this year on what information is needed by distributors and the system operator about customer assets connected to the power system. This highlights the importance of asset information about customer assets connected to the electricity system with two way power flows and demand flexibility. (Elzeth Grant-Fargie and Geoff Parr) 🚗 Counties Energy and GRIDSIGHT provided valuable insights into the impact of EV charging on specific transformers and the change in the daily load profile. 9pm-10pm is the new peak. For these insights, data quality is important but nobody has perfect data. What matters is knowing what data is critical and how good is good enough. (Adrian Nadan & Ben McCoy) 📈 Smart meter power quality data should be free - like it is in Australia. https://lnkd.in/gzZmWj5D Thansk to the Electricity Engineers' Association of New Zealand for a great conference.

It’s been a great week at the EEA Conference, connecting with industry peers and sharing insights. Paul Blue discussed streamlining connections across New Zealand, while Adrian Nadan, in collaboration with Benjamin McCoy from GRIDSIGHT, explored EV charger trends. Chris Knight, alongside Ben Sykes from NetworkEDGE, introduced our Asset Management Risk Model, and Aaron Radford, with Allen James from PLP, demonstrated the use of UAV data for asset management. Astad Kapadia, CPEng, MBA shared lessons from our DSO Project with Pablo Arboleya from Plexigrid, co-funded by Ara Ake. Our team contributed across the event, including the connections forum, Flextalk, and Ara Ake sessions. We’re pleased to be part of the ongoing discussions to reimagine energy for our customers. It’s our joy to announce that Robert Clear and Courtney Connolly have officially joined the team. They were our first choices for Australian GM & Head of People, respectively. With the strength they add to our senior leadership, and what they’ve already achieved, it’s easy to see why! ⚡ Robert is one of our first advisors, shaping play since the early days of Gridsight, so it’s epic to have him jump on full-time! Before Gridsight, Robert spent quality time across a variety of roles in the DNSP landscape from industry to consulting. He’s supported the regulation of all aspects of the electricity supply chain at the Australian Energy Regulator and brings a wealth of knowledge in the management of electricity networks. 👷♂️ Within the first month, Robert has pioneered benefits and value quantification, collaborating with all Australian clients to ensure they’re unlocking maximum value across their businesses and that Gridsight is continuing to meet their evolving needs. Beyond Gridsight, you’ll find him rolling up his sleeves on house reno’s, cranking out 5am gym sessions, and bike riding to work. 🚀 Before Gridsight, Courtney kicked goals for 10+ years at Appian designing and implementing global Talent, People, & Culture programs, talent review processes and leading regional expansions. Courtney’s spanned the entire People function, from hands-on work to senior leadership. She created Appian's global grad recruitment, led end-to-end international entity launches in Japan and India, and designed their first company-wide Talent review process. 🏃♀️➡️ Within the first month, Courtney has spearheaded our People strategy; building scalable, foundational recruitment processes and sourcing new hires to accelerate global team expansion. Beyond Gridsight, you’ll find Courtney on the soccer pitch, providing support to persons with disabilities, extensively reading, and planning her next van road trip. Robert and Courtney, we’re stoked to welcome you two legends both aboard! 🙌
