Grimshaw has joined over 40 like-minded organisations as part of the Net Zero Bridges Group, an organisation formed in 2021 to accelerate progress towards net zero carbon bridge design. We know that bridges are critical assets within our transport networks, creating access to more active and sustainable travel. Their function demands a considered approach, integrating the physical form sensitively into the fabric of our cities and across different regions, reducing their environmental impact while maintaining safety and meeting economic and social needs. With over 30 years experience designing and delivering bridges, across the world, Grimshaw most recently celebrated the completion of Robert Poujade Bridge in Toulouse, France; Port Lands Bridges in Toronto, Canada; Neville Bonner Bridge in Brisbane, Australia; and Newport Station Bridge in Wales in the UK. Our expertise will contribute to the action, research and benchmarking through this network of bridge specialists. #bridgedesign #cities #activetravel #netzerodesign

For nearly a year, our Melbourne studio has collaborated to find, plan and design a new address for the practice at 150 Lonsdale in the heart of the City. Located in the new Wesley Place development which features exceptional urban amenity, the new studio project gave us an opportunity to apply our knowledge and ability to ensure a highly sustainable transition from our former location. As much of the former studio as possible was reused, restored, repurposed and reclaimed with the remainders recycled. We worked with trusted suppliers to minimise the environmental impact of our workplace fit out, choosing carefully and using the repurposed materials wherever possible. Our own industrial design is a prominent part of our new workplace design. Our long standing collaboration with Revival Projects allowed us access to magnificent recycled timbers, some of which were derived from former Grimshaw Melbourne projects. Today, we reveal the new studio, an affirmation of our people and projects and a commitment to our future in Melbourne, Victoria as well as the importance of both of our Australian studios in our global network.
