Check out the free Theory of Change toolkit available from Walcott Communications Ltd website. It’s good - even if I say so myself!
How do you measure your impact as a socially motivated or not-for-profit organisation? That’s the question we set out to answer with the life sciences charity, LifeArc when they invited us to support them in their transition to an impact-led organisation. Using Theory of Change to develop the vision for impact - goals, indicators and pathways, and a framework for monitoring and evaluating progress towards that impact, together we built a logical, actionable plan for their interventions. As part of that process, we developed a comprehensive toolkit for LifeArc that they can use not only to build their employees’ understanding of impact and Theory of Change but also to embed impact into the organisation and ensure it remains an integral part of their day-to-day activity. Together with LifeArc, we’re delighted to be able to share this version of the Theory of Change toolkit as a guide for organisations that want to take a strategic approach to problem-solving and purposefully plan for impact. You can find out more about our approach to developing an impact framework and get the toolkit here: https://lnkd.in/eCvfMSpq

A little more information on our ‘How to review a draft impact case study’ online training on 6th November 😁
On the 6th of November, we are holding an online workshop on reviewing and classifying impact case studies for anyone new to #REF submissions. The session will focus on: - building confidence in understanding the case study template and what’s required in each section - identifying what best practice in impact evidence looks like using 4* case study examples (and those less successful) - learning how impact manifests across different disciplines and adjusting your expectations accordingly when reviewing across different UoAs This will be a practical, fully interactive session so places will be limited to enable us to tailor to the relevant disciplines where possible. If you are a research impact manager providing REF support for the first time, an academic newly appointed as Unit of Assessment lead or an impact director and this is your first REF, please take a look. And if that’s not you, please consider sharing with a colleague who would find it useful! Key details below: 🗓 Wednesday 6th November 🕖 13:30-16:00 📍 Online 🔗 Register at https://lnkd.in/eRVHTYy2 #ImpactSkillsTraining #ResearchImpact #REF #ImpactCaseStudy

Researchers and policymakers have often been viewed as separate communities, each with distinct norms and approaches despite addressing similar issues. Lucile Maertens, Audrey Alejandro, and Zoé Cheli propose that roleplay can effectively bridge this gap, fostering more productive interactions between research and policy. Read the full article here:

Universities are often seen as key drivers of local economic growth and innovation, but as James Evans points out, their influence on innovation may be overstated compared to their role in organising and supporting business development. Read the full article here:
