About us
GUARD Robotics is a club at Griffith University Gold Coast, and represents Griffith in the VEX U robotics competition. GUARD is a diverse student-lead team that develops students’ skills in business, design, media, management, and engineering in a fast paced collaborative environment. We proudly nurture enthusiasm for electrical, mechanical, and software engineering, which allows us to accelerate our exceptional students far beyond the classroom through our projects and programmes: - Weekly robotics classes, available to all members - The VEX U competition Every year, we build at least four robots to compete at the VEX U competition. Our team members exercise their CAD, programming, and project management skills to design, build, and improve robots to compete against other universities in Australia and the US. At the same time, our design, media, and business students work to make our programmes possible. GUARD prioritises maintaining a fun and sustainable programme. Our weekly robotics classes are available for students to share skills and knowledge, forming a pathway for graduates from partnered local high schools to make friends, upskill, and join our VEX team.

🚀 GUARD at the Queensland VEX Robotics Competitions! 🤖 Last weekend, GUARD had the privilege of volunteering at the Queensland VEX Robotics Competitions held at Caningeraba State School. Across Saturday and Sunday, our club helped host both the VEX IQ Competition for primary and middle school students and the V5RC Competition for middle/high school students. It was incredible to see the creativity, teamwork, and engineering skills these young minds brought to the table. The future of robotics and engineering is in great hands! A huge congratulations to all the teams who participated, and a special thank you to our amazing club members for their dedication and hard work in making this event a success! #GUARD #VEXRobotics #STEM #Engineering #FutureEngineers #Teamwork #Inspiration

🤖🌍 Amazing Day at the Queensland World Science Festival, Ipswich! 🌟 It's been an honour for our team at GUARD to showcase our VEX robots to enthusiastic kids and adults across the two days. 🚀 The delight on the faces of these young minds as they engaged with our robots and 3D printers truly warmed our hearts, as they bombarded us with curious questions and eagerly took the reins driving the robots themselves. 💡🔧 Thank you to every single member of our club who contributed to the success of this event. Your dedication, hard work, and passion for inspiring the next generation of scientists and engineers are what made this event possible. 🙌🤝 #WorldScienceFestival #STEMeducation #RoboticsInnovation #InspiringYoungMinds

Last month GUARD competed at the Australian VEXU National Championship in Adelaide, competing fiercely against other university teams showcasing the results of a year's worth of dedication and teamwork. 🌐🔧 The two robots we engineered this year allowed us to take home the Design and Tournament Finalist Awards, while being incredibly close to winning Tournament Champion (Congratulations to EMU5 - VEX U Robotics at UniMelb). 🏅💪 A heartfelt thank you to our dedicated team for their hard work and commitment, Daniel Ricardo at the QRCA, as well as to the Griffith University Gold Coast Student Guild for their unwavering support throughout our journey. Your commitment to GUARD has been instrumental, and we're grateful to have partners like you by our side. 🤝🙌 We also wanted to thank the Creator Academy for featuring one of our robots on their Youtube channel. We hope to appear in Dallas, Texas next April for the VEXU World Championship where we are striving to achieve even higher results than last year! 🚀💙 #vexU #robotics #innovation #design #university #engineering #programming
