At the start of this month, we conducted salary and bonus reviews! It’s something we do twice a year, since 2020. Salary and bonus reviews twice a year are not common in most companies. We love them as they tangibly recognise performance often. We can also address inflation, cost of living pressures as well as the changing job market regularly. Our consistent approach means that team members have the comfort of knowing salary reviews are conducted regularly, which they can rely on when managing their career. #Halaxy #careers #culture PS. The photo below is our Halaxy spin on the entire Melbourne team. Thanks Ria Fernandez for the fantastic designs.

Last week we put our company-wide first aid training to use, when one of our team members had a medical issue and needed to be taken by ambulance to the hospital.   They’re okay now, thank goodness. And it made us reflect on just how good it is that everyone in Halaxy does first aid training, not just a few.   Our first aid training means we all know what to do and what not to do, and we have a shared language of care so that we are able to support our team members, when they need it most.   Providing everyone with physical and mental first aid training equips everyone to support each other, their friends, families, and communities.   #Health #Halaxy #FirstAidTraining

We are pleased to announce that we have introduced Halaxy paid parental leave across all three of our offices (Melbourne, Cork, and Vancouver).   Our paid parental leave program is available to both primary and secondary caregivers – for the same length of time, regardless of gender and covers birth, adoption, surrogacy, and other individual circumstances – helping support families of all types.   By removing this distinction between primary carers (often the mother) and secondary carers (traditionally the father), Halaxy strives to foster a more equal distribution of paid work and caring responsibilities between both carers, to not perpetuate or entrench common stereotypes associated with the ‘caring load’.   Our introduction of paid parental leave is yet another way we support inclusion at Halaxy, which goes hand-in-hand with our inclusive hiring practices and policies as well as our culture, which leads to us having no gender pay gaps at Halaxy.   Halaxy’s paid parental leave is for 6 weeks, pro rata for part time employees, and is in addition to any paid government parental leave and unpaid leave options available to employees.   #Halaxy #Parents #Culture #Gender #Equality #EqualParents #AllFamilies

This week we had our now annual global chilli eating competition across our Melbourne, Cork, and Vancouver offices. One by one, #Halaxians took turns to see just how much spice they could handle, tasting spicy chips and chilli sauces ranging from mild to extremely un-mild – including a Spicy Sanchez sauce made from the world’s hottest chilis. To cap off the competition, we sampled some actual chillies and even a chilli cake! To no one’s surprise, Sean, Matt, and Debarshi were the competition winners in Melbourne, with Eanna winning in Cork, and the entire Vancouver team winning in Vancouver. Special congratulations to Matt as this was his second time winning, and we've only ever had two chili eating competitions...so far.

We have some exciting Halaxy team news to share! Julie from our Cork team will be working out of our new Melbourne office for the next 2 weeks. Julie is actually the first #Halaxian to come and visit our Melbourne office since the start of covid. Working in our customer service team, Julie is one of the reasons we're able to offer 24-hour customer service – Monday to Friday (AEST) – via phone and email. While we’re all about embracing new technology at Halaxy – when it comes to helping our customers get the right answers, at the right time, wherever they are in the world – we believe that nothing beats human-to-human interaction! Since landing in Melbourne on Sunday night we’ve already introduced Julie to our favourite local Thai spot, Sal’s famous New York style pizza, as well as Mork’s delicious hot chocolate. While Julie is in Melbourne, what else should she check out? Drop any recommendations you have in the comments 👇 #Halaxy #CustomerService #Cork to #Melbourne

At today’s weekly team lunch, we had Korean, as chosen by Wei Sheng Lim. Wei Sheng got to choose because he won the team competition. During our team lunch, we all eat the same cuisine across Halaxy’s Cork, Melbourne, and Vancouver offices. Over the years, the winners of our weekly competition have chosen cuisines from all over the world, ranging from Italian, Mexican, Irish, Brazilian, Indian, and more. It’s hard to imagine a Thursday without a team lunch at this point, with the tradition now over 8 years old. We even continued our team lunch tradition during covid, paying for everyone across our global teams to have the cuisine of the week delivered straight to them. It was also during covid where the tradition of team lunch quizzes started! Our very first quiz was actually focused on the Black Plague. We’ve since moved to higher brow topics like the Beatles, oxymorons, and of course: currencies of the world. It can all get a bit competitive (no, we won’t be naming any names, but they may have curly hair). Check out some of the photos from today’s Melbourne team lunch 👇

It’s been a big couple of weeks at Halaxy! We're delighted to share with everyone in the Halaxy community that our teams across Melbourne and Vancouver have just finished moving into 2 brand new offices. While this has been a big move for everyone in the business, it's also been a great chance for us to sit and reflect on some of the successes we've had over the last year, as we continue to grow Halaxy globally and make healthcare better for everyone, everywhere. As we often talk about at Halaxy, a big part of our successes have come down to having the right people, working on the right projects, at the right time. With our new offices, we’ll add having the right people, working in the right place to that list – as we build towards another year of growth in 2024. We'll be sharing more from the move in the coming weeks, as well as keeping you updated about some of the exciting projects we have in the works for 2024. PS. We're loving the amazing view from our new office every single morning. #Halaxy #Healthcare #Halaxians #Melbourne #Vancouver

We’re proud to say that there is no gender pay gap at Halaxy, and we haven’t had one since we started tracking this metric 5 years ago! This week the Australian government has released its data into pay gaps for Australian companies with over 100 employees – showing an average 19% gender pay gap. As an employer of less than 100 people, Halaxy was not included in those statistics and we are taking this opportunity to share what pay equity looks like at Halaxy. We achieve this by: • Ensuring our hiring processes, including our interview questions and candidate assessments don’t discriminate directly or indirectly so that we get the best people for the role  • Conducting out of cycle salary reviews where needed e.g. for people who take leave or for people on lower salaries than colleagues performing at the same level  • Building an inclusive environment where people can always be their full selves, in an environment of psychological safety for everybody where there’s zero room for sexism. This is shown through the language we use in the office and how we treat each other – and it’s something we expect from everyone in the business, colleagues and leaders alike   • Creating an environment where women are promoted into senior roles as much as men are, resulting in an environment where the best people contribute to making healthcare better for everyone, everywhere at Halaxy When it comes to gender pay equity our view is clear: it’s not that hard. It’s a commitment to having the right people in the job, a commitment to transparency and continual learning, and to having no barriers for anyone in the business succeeding, including people of colour, people where English is not their first language, and people from other marginalised backgrounds.
