The summer holidays should be relaxing but sometimes the pressures of keeping everyone happy and entertained can be exhausting for parents. It can also be expensive. One of the best ideas we have come across is a Mystery Activity Box. Before the school holidays begin, use small pieces of paper to write down activities you would like to do as a family and place them in a box. You can choose to do this yourself or ask the kids to get involved. Then, during the holidays when you hear “I’m bored” or you don’t have any plans for the day, do a lucky dip into your Mystery Activity Box. Some low cost but fun activities for your Mystery Activity Box include: - Making a cubby house using old blankets or sheets and the outdoor table - An at-home movie marathon with pre-selected movies to prevent arguments - Make your own ice-cream, lemonade or fresh pasta day - Plant some vegies in a pot or empty garden bed so you can watch them grow over the holidays - Go to the beach or local swimming pool - Take a picnic to a park you haven’t visited before

December is a big month for many faiths. There is Christmas for Christians, Rohatsu (Bodhi) Day for Buddhists and Hanukkah for people of the Jewish faith, just to name a few. With this in mind, get crafty with the whole family and spend today making gifts and cards for the people you care about. If the weather is nice, make your gifts outside where paint and glitter are easier to clean up. If the weather is bad, perhaps chocolate or biscuit making could become the ideal gifts to give. #MakeaGiftDay #NDIS #HealthcareRequest

🌟 Exploring NDIS Coverage 🌟 The National Disability Insurance Scheme is designed to cater to a diverse range of impairments, going beyond past limitations. From physical disabilities to psychosocial or mental health challenges, the NDIS aims to address disabling aspects of our environment, ensuring everyone can fully participate in society. The NDIS is encouraged to consider the disabling aspects of an impairment rather than sticking to rigid categories. When applying for the NDIS, showcasing chronic or permanent impairments associated with your disability is often required. However, if your disability is psychosocial, the traditional approach might not align with your goal of full recovery. The NDIS understands this and has introduced a psychosocial stream for those seeking alternative pathways. Whether it's through demonstrating existing services or embracing new perspectives, let's support each other on the path to inclusivity and empowerment.

Wondering about NDIS age limits? 🤔 If you're applying, remember the age range is 6 to 65. If you're over 65 with a disability, the aged care system can help you with your needs. 👶 Little ones under 7? They might qualify for Early Childhood Early Intervention (ECEI). Got questions? 📞 Contact your Support Coordinator, Local Area Co-ordinator, NDIS Contact Centre or the Healthcare Request team.

International Day of Persons Living with Disability began in 1992 with the aim of raising awareness of the challenges and rights of people living with disability. This Day also promotes the many benefits gained when we provide an inclusive and welcoming society that values everyone. We encourage you to celebrate this very important day.

Confused about your NDIS funding? Let's break it down! The NDIS supports activities that help you fully engage in life, from education to health services. But what's considered "reasonable and necessary"? ✅ Must be related to your disability ✅ Value for money ✅ Likely to work for you ✅ Account for existing support ❌ Exclude unrelated daily living costs Consider: Does it align with your goals? Increase independence? Boost community participation? Develop your capacity? 🔍 If you're feeling lost with your NDIS plan, we're here to guide you.
