Raise awareness of appropriate behaviours to prevent domestic, family and sexual violence. A Powerful Evening at Reclaim the Night. Healthier Illawarra Men was honored to stand alongside Women Illawarra and the community at the Reclaim the Night event last night. The message was clear and powerful: men must stand up and take action to end domestic, family, and sexual violence. There was a range of speakers, including our own Craig Morris, with the key themes including the critical role men play in this fight—looking for, noticing, and calling out unacceptable behaviors. It’s time to change the talk, attitudes, behaviour, and mindset of men to create a safer and more equal society. Thank you to everyone attended and showed their support to this important cause. At Healthier Illawarra Men we are committed to helping our community changing these statistics. Australian males experience different health outcomes to females. They experience more of their total disease burden from dying prematurely than from living with disease and injury. Leading causes of disease burden include heart disease, dementia and mental health and substance use disorders. Males are also more likely to engage in risky health behaviours such as tobacco, alcohol and substance abuse. They are also less likely to seek health care services By promoting healthier lifestyles and preventive health measures, we can make a significant impact on men’s health. Here are some tips to get started: Limit Alcohol Intake: Try to keep your alcohol consumption within the recommended guidelines. Quit Smoking: Seek support to quit smoking and improve your overall health. Regular Check-ups: Schedule regular health check-ups to catch potential issues early. Stay Active: Incorporate physical activity into your daily routine. Healthy Diet: Focus on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.
