As 'See Tracks, Think Train' week - a rail safety initiative, comes to an end - here are 10 train facts that could save your life and the lives of others. 🛑 Track Tragedies happen more often than you think - In fact, in the US they happen every 3 hours. 🛑 Railroad tracks are private property - Never walk or play on or near them. 🛑A train can pass at any time - Always expect a train at any time from any direction. 🛑Trains can stop but, not quickly - It takes the average train over a mile to stop. 🛑Trains always have the right of way - They can't stop or pull over, yield to them every time. 🛑 Trains travel in both directions - Locomotives can push and pull rail cars, the locomotive isn't always a direction indicator. 🛑Designated crossings are the only safe place to cross – Always cross at a designated pedestrian or roadway crossing. 🛑Trespassing & Grade crossing collisions are the biggest cause of rail- related fatalities - 9/10 fatalities involve grade crossing collisions or incidents. 🛑Trains can sneak up on you - Optical illusions make it hard to determine, a train's distance and speed. 🛑 Trains are bigger than tracks - Always remain at least 20 feet away from the rail. An amazing first day at the Rail Track Association Australia - RTAA Field Day in Chullora, NSW. Great to see all the exhibitors on display and engage in some really great conversations. A fantastic effort by the HRSA team to showcase our unique equipment and conduct a live demonstration of a Flashbutt weld being made. I’m looking forward to day 2 of the field day and once again demonstrating the Flashbutt welding process. For anyone attending tomorrow, stop by booth 39 and say hello to the team. Congratulations to HEBU, the Holland Equipment Business Unit, they celebrated five years of accident-free performance on February 19, 2024. The team celebrated with a burrito lunch.
