Brighter Shipping Software
About us
SmartFreight® is the easier way to manage your shipping needs. Our suite of shipping solutions puts hundreds of possible transport providers and routes at your fingertips, offering total flexibility, and access to the information you need, every step of the way. We give you complete control. Whatever your volume, we’ve got a solution for you. All our solutions come with route optimisation. So whether you’re focused on price, service or environmental impact, you can find the most effective shipping method. All solutions are designed to be flexible, so when your needs change, we evolve with you. Let’s face it. If you’re in the business of designing, making, producing, or selling, shipping is a crucial link in the supply chain and is often the difference between a great customer experience and a bad one. It’s a vital part of your service offering, but something you rarely have full control over. Once a shipment leaves your warehouse, store or supplier it’s out of your hands. Not anymore. So in 1997, we set about changing things for the better. An early believer in using disruptive technology to improve customer experience, we created one of Australia’s first generic multi-carrier shipping systems. We became a market leader, by putting the customer first, and helping them take back control, with a system that offered versatility, transparency, accountability and efficiency. Your own freight rates with your chosen transport providers are loaded by our team to give you the choice you need when you need it. In 2018, we became a part of the WiseTech Global group. WiseTech Global is a leading developer and provider of software solutions to the logistics industry globally. Its customers include more than 8,000 of the world’s logistics companies across 130 countries. Its flagship product, CargoWise One, forms an integral link in the global supply chain and executes more than 54 billion data transactions annually.

The logistics giant’s “deep learning models” incorporate weather and traffic conditions for more accurate delivery projections. It also explores chatbots like ChatGPT to improve deliveries by asking users questions about their shipments. #lastmiledelivery #AI https://lnkd.in/gX-RRgfW

Last year, more than €570 billion worth of online product was returned. Reverse logistics cost brands an average of €7-€17 per return. It is currently unsustainable for retailers which means it will invariably impact couriers and the entire #lastmiledelivery industry. #reverselogistics https://lnkd.in/gctsc5Ya

The last metres of #lastmiledelivery is where the greatest risk of package theft can occur. Thieves got away with €8 Billion in goods from peoples' homes last year. The fight against "porch pirates" stealing parcels continues, but electronic delivery updates are proving helpful to thwart these thefts. https://lnkd.in/g3fSmXNr

Traffic congestion costs drivers around the world hours of lost time which has a massive impact on #lastmiledelivery. The extra time, labour, petrol and emissions spent in traffic hurt profits and the environment. Car drivers in London UK lost approx. 99 hours stuck in traffic in 2023. Meanwhile in Dublin, the estimate is 72 hours, and 97 in Paris. Multiply these hours by dozens of delivery drivers and the costs skyrocket. https://lnkd.in/gwwhg6Gn

UPS is in the midst of a pilot to improve package #volumedensity on driver routes and save on delivery costs. it pays to deliver more packages in fewer stops. The company estimates the cost it incurs for last-mile delivery of a package is $5.50, with 60 cents added per additional package. The pilot involves third-party technology “holding” an order on an order management system until it can match another shipment to the same address. The virtual hold is only as long as the service level agreement allows. #lastmiledelivery https://lnkd.in/eN23cUvY
