    I had a great week in Riyadh and Dubai. When I tell industry folks that I'm back in the region again, I sometimes get a look of surprise, or a "really? I didn't think gaming would be a focus over there." Well, it is... and in a BIG way. The appetite to innovate and challenge the status quo is most definitely inspiring. Let’s dive in together and explore how the untapped gaming channel can become your next competitive edge. Think gaming is just for the kids? Think again.  With 52% of people now playing video games regularly, this audience is massive, diverse, and engaged. Younger audiences (ages 2 to 18) aren’t just gamers—they’re dedicated, spending 30% of their entertainment time gaming. But here’s the kicker: 31% of those aged 45+ are also gaming regularly. This means gaming has transformed into a cross-generational channel, giving brands a unique way to engage multiple demographics that are often missed by traditional media. Gaming is more than just play—it's an attention magnet. Platforms like Fortnite and Roblox aren’t just games anymore; they’re social ecosystems where users play, chat, shop, and engage in ways that other channels can’t match. This provides brands a unique opportunity to leverage both reach and interactivity, from banner ads to fully immersive in-game experiences. Bain's report shows that 70% of gamers play on multiple devices, with 95% of developers building cross-platform experiences. Gamers who play on different devices—such as consoles, PCs, and mobile—stay connected longer and more frequently, creating more opportunities for brands to reach them in a cohesive, uninterrupted way. Gaming outpaces traditional entertainment. The report also revealed that gaming pulled in $196 billion in 2023 and is projected to hit $257 billion by 2028, surpassing the combined revenue of streaming video, streaming music, and the box office. As gaming surpasses traditional entertainment channels, it’s becoming a dominant platform where brands can reach engaged audiences at scale, offering more opportunities for impactful, immersive ad experiences.     We recently dived into the IAB’s October 2024 edition of the Casual Gaming Buyer’s Guide, here are 3 of our favorite stats from the report and 3 questions to ascertain your brand’s attention-centric, game advertising readiness: 👉 Casual gamers aren't just a genre—they're trendsetters. With 31% of U.S. gamers choosing casual over strategy and sports games, it's clear that this format resonates with a wide and diverse audience. Brands that tap into this audience can create more personalized and engaging experiences. How are you planning to connect with these active users through advertising in this space? 👉 Multitasking is the new norm. IAB found that 68% of 18-34-year-olds play games while watching TV. This trend requires  advertisers to adopt a dual-screen approach, crafting content that’s designed to thrive in a fragmented environment. How are you ensuring your ads are interactive and immersive enough to gain the attention it deserves? 👉 Reward-based ads are a win-win in the gaming world—67% of free game players are willing to watch ads in exchange for in-game rewards.
