In our latest Staff Spotlight, we speak to Nicolas Rivero – a project manager from Incat Crowther’s American office. Nic explains why he has become the ‘go-to’ for complex structural analyses and why he has enjoyed working on the design of Yankee Freedom IV – a new 35-meter, 300-passenger ferry Incat Crowther is designing that will operate on a 70-mile route between Key West in Florida and the Dry Tortugas National Park. Nic also tells us why he believes operators will continue to look for innovative and efficient engine technologies in the years ahead as the sector continues to decarbonize. NEWS: The fleet of Incat Crowther-designed vessels for Singapore’s Majestic Fast Ferry has continued to expand with the delivery of two new, state-of-the-art, second-generation 42-metre ferries. The new 42-metre vessels represent an evolution in operational efficiency and customer experience building on the success of the first-generation models, which Incat Crowther also designed for the Singaporean operator. The new vessels are capable of transporting up 343 passengers - an increase on the first generation vessels, and can travel at a maximum speed of 39 knots. The two new vessels were constructed by Indonesian shipbuilder PT Cahaya Samudra and join a growing fleet of Incat Crowther designed vessels servicing Majestic’s busy commuter routes. Earlier this year BOAT International Media gave its readers an insight into some of the capabilities and design features of Wayfinder, the 68-metre SHADOWCAT support vessel designed by Incat Crowther and delivered in 2021. Described by BOAT International Media as “one of the world’s largest floating playgrounds”, the next generation vessel was custom designed and features a fully certified helipad (which can also be transformed into a pickleball court) and helicopter hangar. Wayfinder also has the ability to transport five large tenders, jet skis and diving equipment located in its own dive compressor. Serviced by up to 20 crew, Wayfinder is IMO Tier III emissions certified and is fitted with the latest sustainability technology to reduce its impact on the environment by providing a zero discharge operational capability. Learn more about Incat Crowther’s track record of designing truly world-leading support vessels by visiting the SHADOWCAT booth at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show S.A.M., which kicks off today.
